Are you *sure* about that? The stats I was reading before purchasing my Camaro indicated that the manuals were *slightly* faster and more fuel efficient. Not bashing autos, but I specifically remember the manuals having the edge in those departments.

It's so good to be able to shift when you want the d@m car to shift!

Automatic transmission takes all the fun from owning a 6.2L engine. It's the whole concept of "controlling" your car.
Paddle shifters??

I bought an L99 for the simple reason of NOT wanting to get tickets for driving too fast. For some reason, when I drive any manuals, I tend to drive FAST. I have the same problem with the Harley. lol

1) Wife can't drive a manual and she used to drag race years ago and has won awards with her old '68 Nova at World of Wheels, so she gets to have a big say in what we got.
2) Traffic sucks here, and left foot in, left foot out, left foot in, left foot out, etc, etc, gets boring pretty damn quick.
3) I still get to shift with the paddles and feel the engine acting like a manual because I get to choose when to shift.
4) I drive fast and feel much better with 2 hands on the wheel when taking corners that require a shift.
5) Auto start.

I know how to and can drive a manual just fine, but don't have very much experience. With that said..I feel like the Manual (Tremec) was a bit fussy for someone of my level of experience. More than anything, it was an impulse purchase and whether it was an auto or stick was really irrelavent to me. The 6 speed auto will shit and get just fine.

I always wonder why the only people who care why anybody bought an auto or manual are the people who bought a manual???????

I owned '68, '71, '82 & '84 Camaros. I also owned '76 and '78 Trans Ams. They were all sticks. I guess I finally just outgrew the compulsion to pump that clutch all the time, so I bought an L99.

I don't know whether that's good or bad?

That said, I still enjoy driving a stick on the open road.

However, I'll stick with my L99 in the 1/4-mile.
