I'm going to expand a little on what I said earlier, because I believe this was caused by driver error.

As the OP stated in his post, "Now... I have always been affraid of this beast in rain."

I've NEVER been afraid of any car in the rain. If it's raining really hard and there's standing water, I go slow.

I've hit standing water at 70 mph in my car WITH the P-Zeros. I've done it in other cars too. When you hydroplane on a highway, you don't really need to do anything with the steering wheel except let it go straight. Overcorrecting in a hydroplaning situation is what will get the car bent out of shape. The big thing here is...know the conditions and the road. If you start seeing standing water, SLOW DOWN.

I'm sure the computer on the car will back me up, but I really doubt that there was any failure with Stabilitrac. It was almost certainly cause by a driver going too fast for conditions. Tires (or lack of tread) may have played a part as well.

I cannot be flippant in the face of your pain. I am sure everyone who didn't wreck yesterday has advice and admonishment for you. Not me homie, THIS F'N SUCKS . I nearly was the author of a similar post, yesterday.*I "lost control" on purpose while I had a passenger so I could "show my handles"- I didn't account for her weight and a patch of dirt -it was nearly disastrous. I went from thinking "Ken Block" to praying for my "Engine Block". By all means deflect, accept, question, and dole out responsibility for what happened where appropriate - but remember the result rests with YOU. When you dare the devil sometimes "he puts you all in" . Our cars are fast but they can't *outrun "The horsemen". Side airbags wont stop the reapers Sickle. However you wanna look at it- We coulda died . You will drive amongst a myriad of other things, again, because YOU ARE ALIVE! Thank your deity for that! There are always things we DON'T know. I am truly humbled by the power and handling these cars have. It can numb and embolden the driver.Unfortunately Camaros often trick us into defying the laws of speed AND physics. I hope everything ends well and you find yourself back in the drivers seat again soon.

You might consider a lawsuit against God. After all, it was He who allowed the rain. Johnny Cochran, O. J.'s attorney, is dead and may take the case.

A sad commentary on the mindset of today's society. "It can't be my fault!" Who do I sue? Who will fix this for me?

Take a big bite of the "personal responsibility" sandwich, and go get another car. Oh, and please-not another Camaro.

Why would you drive 70mph in the rain? When you start putting to much trust in your car and your own driving skills... that is when disaster happens.

Might be a good idea - after all, OP is in the Seattle area, and we actually had some snow yesterday, too. Hey God - did you NOT notice it's almost MAY????

That's what I think happened...makes perfect sense. Obviously he was too fast for conditions, but your car does not start doing 360's without some help from some where

As everyone said glad you got out find. I think what you have to realize is that even though the car may FEEL safe at that speed, 50mph is not a safe speed to be driving during a down pour. I actually did a 180 from standing still attempting to turn in the rain. You may win a lawsuit if you fight hard enough (I dont think so) but realistically I think was drivers error. Just think about it like this if you replaced rain storm with snow storm and had the exact same story people would laugh at the fact you putting on GM. Believe insuarnce will have same response for rain. Anyway you pay for insurance us it get a new car and take it as a lesson learned

Were getting severe thunderstorms RIGHT now and Im leaving in an hour. Ill even take a video for you. 6th gear, good tread, my car plows through the rain.

Trust me my old car couldnt go faster than 45 in heavy rain or youd literally be fighting every second to keep it straight. So I know how a car shouldnt feel. This camaro feels perfectly planted and safe.

NO CAR will be perfectly planted and safe if you hit the right patch of water. Mine has gottena bit squirrely in the rain. I have 315s on the rear, but still. If the water gets enough road coverage and thick enough, you can lift at any moment.

i see the guy hasn't posted anything since....

anyway driver error nothing the car could do for you obviously it tried. we never had any of these systems for many many decades and people still drove in the worst weather possible so if you are relying on them to save you well..... you have other issues

don't bother GM with this it is your own fault but its good your still hear to learn from it.

The stability control does not prevent an accident 100%. If your car hrydro-planed, no way the system can save it. Sounds like that is what happened. Glad to hear you or anyone did not get injured.
