Congrads!!!! You are really gonna like it. I have a v6 Auto, and absolutly love it, awesome car. Ive had many comments on it, people honking, pointing, etc. I was at walmart the other day, and there was a walmart Truck driver, getting out of his Rig, and walked over to me while i was putting some stuff in the trunk, he asked..how you like That Camaro, i said i loved it, i said right off the bat, it has the 304hp V6, and he was impressed, i said, i can get in trouble just as fast with this, lol. He said the Camaros, sure look good going down the highway. Real nice guy.

Wow, long time to read this whole thread... some good opinions, some not so good

I'm still on the fence but leaning towards the V6, here's why:

The car will be my daily driver and our other car is a 2009 Jeep Commander, not really a good mpg option there.

Most likely, I'll be getting a spare set of snow tires / wheels and, from what I've read, the v6 is easier to handle in snowy conditions (this is Minnesota, after all).

I think it's that people are indicating that the V8 is the only "real Camaro". I'm pretty sure GM gets the final word on what's a Camaro and what isn't and they obviously decided they wanted to make a V6 Camaro.

Could I afford the V8? Yep, that's not the issue. I just can't believe there are other factors that go into people's decision of which model to buy other than just the raw power numbers and the price.

Like in dissapointment. Don't people realize that this V6 has 304 HP and is one of the most advanced engines around? I have driven the SS with a V8. Much respect to you guys, but I just couldn't spend 35-38K for it. This V6 Camaro could wipe most cars out there today even with a V8, i.e. the Mustang. So I am proud of my V6. Its hella fun to drive. For those summer days I want a V8, I have a 71 Chevelle SS with a 454 (545HP 566TRQ) and 4.10 gears with a T56 6 speed that will blow the doors of most any Camaro out there. But as my daily driver and I am at the gas station the next time I am asked if it is a V8 or an SS, I am going to say.....Its a O Ten Camaro Bro...Who F#$$in Cares!
I went through the same the thing. This was definitely a contributing factor in me trading in my six for a ss.

HUH? Funny I've never had that problem. I get asked all the time, but I've never gotten mad about it. I just tell them, Yeah it a v8, yeah its a stick... then the look at my car and walk away. Never have I gotten mad about it. Its A CAMARO. Attention getter! I'f it really bothers you, just trade it in and get a impala or something..... something that everyone knows and won't ask you any questions.

Your v6 won't beat a v8 mustang (s197)....

Also people ask because v8 is an iconic american figure....

most people don't ask 6 or 8, just tell me they think it's beautiful...some do, and I tell them it's a 6, and plenty fun and fast...
Only one person dissed the 6, saying I should have got an 8, wasn't "real" - I told him when he started making my car and insurance payments, I'd be glad to buy whatever he wanted me to drive...til then, I loved my car! That shut him up.

Sorry for my input but the v6 isnt slow your just saying that to talk. The v8 is nice and all but it could also get smoked by the Z its funny how people tend to always want to match up the v6 to the Z or to v8 mustang i get people doing that all the time.I think the Z is ugly but its a really fast car and has a strong chance of smoking a v8

Exactly theres always gona be a bigger bully in the yard.Sure the v8 is faster than the v6 thats logical right but that doesnt take anything away from the v6.For those that drive the v6,your still driving one of the nicest and fastest cars out there and for those who think there superior because they have a v8,just shut up i gurantee you theres some guy out there in a ferrari talking shit about your car

Sounds like the V6 owners are all missing the point. I can't speak for all SS owners but I have owned a 300+ Hp F-body for 5 years. 300 Hp in these cars is SLOW, I don't care if you can beat rice rockets. That means nothing. Yes the V6 is impressive and I'm happy GM is upping the power in them so that they don't get slapped around anymore.

I did not by a V6 because I have 13 year old car that's faster than it stock, so I went with the SS.
