Noise behind dash(not from heater core)

I had a weird sound coming from my dash last night. I have read about the heater core problem, but don't think this is the same thing.

It sounded like it was coming from behind the tach or radio.

It was a consistant rythmic sound. It sounded somewhat of an old analog clock second hand moving, but it was like...brrr-silent-brrr-silent-brrr.....

The funny thing is that it kept doing it with the car off and the key out of the ignition. I even opened the door to kill the power after turning it off.

We went into a restaurant to eat and when we came out it wasnt doing it.

It didnt do it on the way home either.

Anyone else heard this?

From what you have described, it sounds like you left your cell phone on vibrate and in the console...LOL...but no, I have not heard that noise.

I have heard it my Camaro also. I took it to the dealership and of course it didn't do it. The tech told me to bring it back when I can leave it there all day and they can catch the noise. It does do it for a little while after you turn it off almost as if the final part of liquid is flowing through. I hope it aint no big deal.

That is a good description actually. It does sound like that, just a little more audible.

I actually thought it was my phone at first.

Nothing was on. I had the key out of the ignition and the door open.

Its the duct doors closing, mine does it also for about 10 seconds. Should stop eventually or something is wrong.

Yet another reason I love this board. I got home tonight and my car was doing exactly what the OP described well after the car was turned off. Searched and found this thread. Went back out and checked and it's stopped. Hopefully, that's the end of it.

I thought I remembered a post a while back, so I did some digging.....This noise was covered here back in 2010/2011. If you google "evap system noise when car shut off" You'll see it's a noise that occurs on all newer makes/models.

I can go into the garage hours after the car has been off and can occassionally catch it cycling.

Here's the original C5 post where 99.9% sure it's the evap system doing it's routine. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...ght=dash+noise

Here's a link to a lexus forum that describes the same thing.
http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-t...ff-engine.html

Hope this helps ease anyones concerns over their phantom dash noise. No need for any worries.
