Ive got to be honest in relation to the florida resident, i live in Winter Garden, only about 20 min up the rd from Kissimmee and i can not understand what you are talking about. How on earth can you drive a car in 90 degree heat and humidity without using A/C.

In the early mornings here in FL i use the rear defogger regularly. I guess the only time you wouldnt use it is if your a student and dont crawl out of bed until 10am or you park your behicle every night in the garage, otherwise you need the rear defogger.

Oh by the way do you want to get rid of the radio antenna in the window too? would you rather have a big flagpole sticking up on the rear fender? think about it...
Yeah, you might want to come up for the camaro show that is held in INDY every year!

You could always get the glass replaced with clear glass. When my Monte was broken into they broke the rear glass and I just got it replaced with plain clear glass. But like others have said it fogs up real bad and there is nothing I can do about it.

Its been sooooooooooooooooooooooo long irpq11 that I didnt agree with one of your comments but I would prefer the shark fin to a stick ariel anyday despite how much I hate the shark fin.

I just wish we didnt have onstar and used the body of the car as an ariel!

My first car (van) had no A/C, so I had to learn to use N/A/C (Natural Air Conditioning (professional term)), and now I'm just used to it and love it. A little sweat never hurt nobody. I'm a student in Tallahassee, so when I'm in Kissimmee during the summers, I leave for work at 6:15 am and I have to park outside because my parents cars are inside. I still have never used it.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions yall. It sounds like its not worth the trouble to not have em. Oh well. That fin is still gonna come off though.

You all are missing the real reason GM is installing the rear defogger.

How else will you be able to see where you're going when you back out of your local "parking" place the first evening your GF/fiance/wife sees the Camaro and wants to "christen" the back seat?!?

I see where you are coming from on this...
They turn off after 10 minutes automatically. And don't hurt window tint.

I had a friend some years ago that ordered a 1996, or so, Mustang. When the car came in she realized the rear defroster wasn't there. She had no idea they weren't standard in it. She regretted it since she had to scrape the rear window to get rid of ice/frost and had no way of getting rid of fog if it fogged up.

Unless you're both 125# twigs, good luck with that. LOL

My first car didn't have AC that worked either. And I learned to 'deal wit it' at the time.

But that didn't stop me from using AC every chance I got with newer cars. I absolutely despise being hot (sweaty is even worse)...

Didn't know.

Although, I do believe there is tint out there that the defroster will not affect.
Is that why I see so many bad tint jobs in the rear window? I never thought about that.

lol it's cool. I just don't like the look of the shark fin. But since the radio antena is in the window I wouldn't need the stick anyway.

BTW, I wish my wife could make the same comment you just made.

Its not the weight so much as the flexibility.

Besides, if I can make a Mustang's backseat work, I'm sure I can find a way for the 'maro's.

I'm another vote for tinting. They won't stand out as much - well, from the outside. To me, it looks better than just the "clear" glass, but I'd prefer some tint. I can't remember really reading if we're getting privacy glass; can someone educate me as to if we're just getting the "clear" glass or can we get privacy glass? Maybe, it might help hide the grid.

Be carefull about these lines. I just read in the spec sheet that these also double as your AM/FM radio antenna. The fin up top is just for the XM radio and onstar. Someone suggested getting a new rear window, but then you would lose your radio signal
