It's extremely interesting to read this thread, because just today (30 days, and 1200 miles, after I purchased my 2SS), I feel that even my LS3 isn't all that fast and doesn't have a great pick-up. I first drove the L99 and was heartbroken...I've owned an LT1 (M6) and currently own an LS1 '02 SS (M6). My '02 honestly feels a great deal faster than my '11. The pick-up feels faster, the sound is better, and the gear ratios are super awesome. With my '02, when cruising at 10 mph in first and punching it, you seriously get stuck to your seat; with my '11, punching while cruising in 1st gear, I felt that I can change the song on my I-pod, make a phone call, and take pictures of the scenery (aka: bored). I've done the same test cruising at around 45 mph in 4th gear...same result.. '02 kills it relatively speaking. In either one, you would think the '11 should have a quicker pick-up since it's higher reving.

I'm REALLY hoping that as time goes by and the whole 'break in' thing kicks in that it would feel faster, with more oopmh. Until then, $38k later, I'm fairly disappointed. That LS1 engine is still one of the best engineered engines in muscle car history... IMO.

Final thought: C5 Camaro is the best looking Camaro! Unfortunately, more bark than bite!
I think again, until you run the numbers, you are being deceived. Refinement takes away a lot of the "seat of the pants" feel that the 4th gen cars had (I owned 2 LS1's). They feel like much smaller cars, the insulation from the engine noise is almost nil, and the the windshield rake is more akin to a formula car than the current truck-like 5th gen Camaro. You "feel" faster than you're actually going.

If you were doin' 80MPH in a Camry or a Mazda it'd be a whole lot rougher. After that I thought to myself 'I'm going to have to learn how to drive the Camaro.' Maybe not learn how to drive it totally, but definitely get used to the feel of the ride. These aren't 'normal' mass produced cars, they are 'higher performance' and are on the 'high end' of the handling spectrum of things. You may not be used to the handling coupled with the horsepower of these cars. My $0.02 worth.

Pretty much this. The speed in this vehicle is deceptive. You think you're going slower than you actually are.

I think you are describing is a vehicle that is built with quality.

Not sure if you have ever ridden in a fast luxury car, but i've ridden in E63's, S65's, etc..and they don't feel particularly fast, but they are.

Do a fuse pull and let it set over night. Thats what I had to do. Also in sport mode you notice a markable difference.

If I punch my 2010 2SS in 1st gear going about 10 mph, my nose comes up and I get thrown into my seat! If you are going to test at 45 mph, you damn well better not be in 4th, you should be in 3rd. I'm fully stock at the moment and anyone that rides with me goes "Holy $h*t" when I punch it. No problems in the "pick up" department.

My 1st gear doesn't 'do' that, but then again, it may be due to the cars I've driven and the ones you've driven, and hence, it "feels" much faster for you. However, the "test" of going 45mph in 4th gear was not to necessarily accelerate immediately, but rather, see how quickly i gain speeds to 60 or 70mph while in 4th while going 45 mph. When doing so, the LS1 got there much quicker, and it's lower revving.

I definitely see where you're coming from, and I agree with this particular "feel" aspect you're referring to. And, I very much agree what most people in this thread are saying...take it to a track, don't go off of the feeling. But, the various "tests" I've ran have kind of been that...when comparing my LS1 to LS3.

The example I gave about going 45 mph in 4th gear and then punching it, I should've been more clear that the final result was that I got to 70mph much quicker in the LS1 than in the LS3. And, the same for going 10mph in 1st gear and then punching it. I got to 30 mph quicker in the LS1.

My L99 also felt slow until I put around 5000 miles on it. After that it seemed to wake up. After adding only a CAI and VMAX, I am now doing 0 to 60MPH in the 4.4 to 4.5 second range. I think the tranny and other components are very tight coming from the factory. Just give it time.

Up until about 2000 miles on the odometer on my L99, punching the gas at 20mph would throw me back in the seat. After 2000 when I punch it, it throws you back, the tires spin and the rear end starts to slide sideways. Traction control and Stabilitrack are on.

Wow, do I feel like an idiot now...I honestly had NO idea about Sport Mode...I just thought all it did was allow you to manually shift gears...what a difference that makes itself. Guess I shouldve read my owners manual. BTW, thanks all for the good advice on here.

Eagles07, are you still having issues with the vehicle not feeling the what it should? If you are then I would dare say you may want to have a dealership take a look to see if there isn't something that needs an update or a readjustment or something of that nature. I hope all of the suggestions given here have helped you!

How would you phrase this type of problem to a dealership? Take the service manager out and have him punch it?
