I have been dealing with GM customer service getting STILL some of the paint issued resolved and waiting for approval on the extended warranty I want for compensation for all the miles the dealer put on my car while in service. After talking to this GM rep for a bit he informs me that it is illegal for GM to give me extended warranty as compensation. I'm like WHAT? He goes on about some law which he never really explains and tells me I have to deal with the dealership directly for compensation.
This is the dealership that lied to my face about how the mileage was put on the car. So now I have to get out the gloves and go 10 rounds with ALLEN GWYNN Chevrolet in Glendale CA. (you all get that?) The GM rep said I should contact the dealership owner and see what he'll do. Basically passing the buck like everyone else in this process. I really thought GM would take care of this. The dealer is just going to tell me to pound sand so it'll probably get ugly. If I really can't get the extended warranty, anyone have any ideas to what I should ask for for compensation? Anyone had a similar experience with a dealership?
Fuggin 70 miles of who knows what kind of driving on my carThey should be blowing me! Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I agree with GM with regard to the extra miles. The extra miles are not a defect in GM product so why should GM offer you compensation. The extra miles were put there by the dealer so your beef is with the dealer, not GM. If your original paint is chipping, your beef is with GM not the dealer. If your car got dented while in the dealer's care, you go after the dealer, not GM. People seem to confuse manufacturer and seller often.

I feel ya on this but don't expect much compensation at all. You actually expected GM to do something? Come on! This is like every other company out there. They mistreat you as they do their own employees. Unless you're damn good buddies with dealership owner, president, vice president, supervisor, ect. don't expect anything but see you later, have a great day and come again

i am not confused on this issue. The only reason I went to GM was because dealer wasn't going to do anything. I tried with the dealer, trust me but like most dealers, they are crooks. I'm open to ideas.

Honestly, I may have purchased my last GM vehicle for a while. It's ok cause I'll have this car forever, just won't take it to the stealership anymore

My favorite dealership closed up in 2009. I followed my sales manager to his new dealership even though it's in the next county over. Everytime I go there they are always super nice to me. The owner is super nice along with a salesguy which I never bought anything from him and I established a really good connection to the service department where the mechanics actually explained to me what is actually going on ha and down to the service advisor. I was struggling at first with them when I started bringing my G6 in for warranty issues but after I bought the camaro thru them I have had no complaintsThey enjoy my money ha but they also treat me like I should be treated. I've been to several dealerships that lie to you and don't want to fix parts that are broken under factory warranty and dealerships that drop tools on your front bumper and care to admit it

YouseeSS, sorry this happened to you. Betrayl of trust is something that can almost never be recovered, as I see it.

It is all about respect, customer service & earning trust. OP did you contact the Chevy customer service Dept like Jeff Morris suggested? Might be a good idea.
RubyCamaro, great suggestions!

So true, O.K.! We work hard to buy and pay the care & feeding of our rides, and to have this happen???

I was always very careful when moving customers' cars when I worked in parts at a Pontiac dealership in 1981. So I know there are some good people out there, though bad ones too, I'm sure.

I bought a new twin turbo Nissan 300 Z back in 1990. Brought it in for a winding noise in the rear end that was so load you could hear it by driving it 100 yards. They told me they couldn't hear the noise and that I needed an appointment with a factory rep so he could drive it. Went to pick up the car, they put 45 miles on it, the radio was at nearly full volume on some ear ache station and the car was filthy. Contacted Nissan with the story, they couldn't have cared less! I told the dealer to shove their appointment with the tech rep and I sold the car. Last Nissan for me. If that behavior is OK with Nissan, they can keep their cars.

Giving the keys to anybody comes with some risk.

Always get a feeling in my gut when I have to do it.

Sucks that This local dealer did this and sucks that GM won't do anything about it. Time for a lawyer but don't really know what you would get out of it. I loomed at the dealer in question and ended up buying from camino real.
