Hello,

I renewed the first year with Safe & Sound Plan, came due again this year and decided not to renew. Since this is not my daily driver I do not need it and have a security system that sends me a page if the car is moved or the alarm is activated.

Too expensive, ditched it. I have GPS on the droid along with a phone. So it worked out

I let it lapse. then after a few months, they offered 6 months free. If they think your gone for good, they'll make some low ball offer...better than nothing at all

I'm paying $12.95 a month for the "Safe and Sound" plan. That is the deal I was offered when I called to cancel (I was originally paying $18.95 per month).

I found the "Turn by Turn" navigation to be irritating. For directions I bought an app for my iPhone that is fantastic (GPS Drive by MotionX).

I cancelled mine and two weeks later On Star had the six month promo offer so I called on it and now I have it for free for six months on two cars

Wow, I didn't know that! ... Jeesh, did I just waste some money on the starter minute package on the onstar? Shouldn't the car have the same range as my verizon phone if it's on the same carrier?

I informed him Manhattan was a Borough of NYC, which he found quite surprising..

Thought it was hilarious coming from a "Navigation Advisor".
The Onstar reps with whom I've spoken were in Canada, so it wouldn't surprise me that they aren't too familiar with US cities. Now if they couldn't navigate me around Ontario, then I'd think it was funny. :p

I've never used Onstar. Only once with the android app to see if it would really start the car. Its not worth it to me.. I haven't even pushed the button. My wife did while I was at work. Lol

Never used it, didn't renew. I would pay $3-$5 per month for just the crash detection features, but the price for that is too high. The navigation is a joke and they seriously pissed me off by not making the iPhone app available for 2010 model. I'm a programmer that dabbles in iPhone apps, so that made it even worse.

Never had any issues with OnStar. The directions are great and better than using my GPS. THe safe and sound is where it really counts. Having a Lojack type system and way to unlock my car is incredible. It will be worth every penny when they find your car within 2 hours and kill the ignition to the would be thief.

It is worth every penny to me just to know that if it's a dark night on a deserted road and some freak nasty accident happens that i or more importantly my wife is going to get help. That alone is well worth the $200

Waiting for a locksmith to come out and unlock your car, vs a quick phonecall (or one click of a cell phone app) and boom your doors are unlocked, is a huge difference.
For sure.
Seems like a small price to pay for added peice of mind when you just paid $$$$ for a car.
