I guess my question is are the no trespassing laws? and if so will they fine the childrens parents for trespassing on your property? He was on his own property minding his own business and still someone had to bud in. This was personal at best with whom ever called them on you (not the cops) put up no tresspassing signs and rope it of with caution tape and that should cover you. Trespassing is gaining entry to someone's property without the owner's permission. one should teach the kids to say off others property. I tell my kids to stay off others property and to respect others and I bet that is a rule of any HOA policy. I also live in a great area with none of these silly rules. my money, my house ,my time stay out if not invited period. If you do live in a area with a HOA then you would need to follow those rules you agreed to when you bought the house.

Attitudes go nowhere with cops and will get you exactly what you got, a ticket.

I cannot believe it took 52 responses for someone to finally bring up the possibility that the call probably came out as someone jacking the wheels off a vehicle!!!!! (robbery in progress) In my old department that warranted a multi officer response!!!

As for the ticket issue, I agree with others that there is probably a city or county ordinance prohibiting it. Contrary to popular belief, the Police cannot just give a ticket for something they make up. There has to be a law or ordinance on the books for them to issue a citation for. In other words an officer has to articulate why he/she gave you a citation, and "just because" doesn't fly with a judge. Yes, I agree that some ordinances and even some laws are plain assanine, and asshole neighbors are the worst, but the "cops gave me a ticket just because I have a Camaro" thing is getting old. Also, pulling the "race card" in this country is getting old........I got pulled over last month, I'm sure it wasn't because I was doing 85 in a 65 mph zone, it must have been because I'm a middle aged white man in a Camaro. Sounds stupid doesn't it???

To the OP, I too would fight it in court, but go in being respectful. I can tell you with 100% certainty that you stand a better chance of getting it dismissed if your respectful, rather than going in all pissed off and being an ass...Good luck to you and I hope it works out for you!!!!

well the way I see it is everyone in my neighborhood knows I have a camaro and would not think I was stealing my own wheels, Plus he was working on his wheels in the driveway people do not stick around when they are stealing something. it all comes down to minding your own business. I have better things to do then worry about what my neighbor is doing.

If it is securly on jack stands then the neighbor kids would really have to go out of their way to knock it off. Next time ask the cops to string up some crime scene tape to keep the neighbors out

I don't think you'll beat the ticket if the car was in your driveway.

Looking at this from a Parents perspective, you have to realize that kids would be very attracted to a car with no wheels on it and on jack stands. Just that the remote possibility that some kid MIGHT go near your car with it in that condition should clue you in, that you don't put a car on jack stands where kids MIGHT be able to access it.

How about you keep your kids out of my driveway, and we won't have a problem. I get sick and tired of people always blaming others for their shortcomings.

Not true in MD. If you're car is running idle unattended in your driveway you'll get a ticket. So just because it's your driveway doesn't mean your exempt from doing whatever you want. It sucks but true.

+1

Stop making excuses and lets go back to teaching our kids right from wrong.
