BORLA VS. FLOWMASTER catback
I am pretty confused on which one to get. They both sound fine to me,yet there is almost a $500 difference between the two.I realize the borla is made out of longer lasting material ,but am I missing something here? Are the tips nicer or does the x-pipe make that big a difference?

Theyre both stainless with borla having a higher quality stainless. I was very tempted to buy the Borla ATAK system when I first got my car. In the end I went with Flowmaster AT's just because I dont believe the pricing on the Borla was worth the slight difference. I'm sure the flowmaster will last the lifetime of the car.

Edit: Well maybe on an automatic im not sure those things have different stock exhaust than the LS3. Either way neither as far as performance gains are going to be better than the other.

It's all personal preferance. Personally we think you should get an exhaust you like the sound of at a price you can afford. The power gains are minimal. Keep in mind if you get headers down the line it's going to be louder. We recomend Solo Performance and MBRP. Both have great sound, are stainless steel and resonable priced. We are big fans of Solo products, they have a classic muscle car sound and no DRONE! We offer a Camaro5 discount as well so check out our site and when your ready to buy send us a PM for the best deal around.

Did you install your CAI before or after your exhaust was put on? I was wondering how much of a difference in the sound it produces.

I installed my CAI after my exhaust. It made the car sound a lot meaner. I am sure the CAI would help either way. The factory intake appears to me to have a sound deadening design to it. I am not sure if that is a fact though. |

I'm assuming the flowmaster for the fifth gen is better...but I know when I had my 4th gen the flowmaster exhaust sucked...people on Ls1 tech with cammed cars that had flowmaster would pick up like 30rwhp by putting a cutout in the y pipe if they were using the flowmaster catback..I think some even claimed to gain more power with the stock muffler. Now like I said..I'm sure the 5th gen system is better since its an entirely different design compared to the 4th gen...and I do like the sound of the flowmaster...so Idk...just pick one that u like and is in your budget

I havent seen not one third party posted claims of horsepower from aftermarket exhaust on the 5th Gen. Generally from what I've seen lurking these forums and from some tuners. There is no gain to be had over stock pipes. Aftermarket is for sound unless your pushing major mods then yes go 3" pipes.

Find a local camaro club and listen... or just start shifting through youtube vids...
Do vids with just the catback and do vids with long tubes if you decide to ever go that route. I think Flowmaster and borla are the two best sounds, I went with Borla S type (ATAK was too loud and raspy for me)... once I got headers a few weeks ago, I have not listened to my radio since lol.. that sound and tone is THAT incredible. However, listen for yourself... we are all bias and whatever WE own, we will say sounds better. So take my advice... and don't take our advice... when we say one sounds better than the other we are wrong. Both sound great, and you can't go wrong with either.
