Maybe, but vince would have to answer that.

Maybe - but I read somewhere the injectors used by the Bosch units may not be compatible with the drivers in the Delphi unit meaning you might have to swap injectors.

Then there's the anti-theft stuff that would have to be dealt with.

...and the fact the LFX is a "different" engine than the LLT.

But, anything is possible. ;-)

I believe vince is correct on this and not someone who heard from someone
I guess I will just have my finger crossed that E85 will work on our LLT. At least thats the only big power possibility I see on our 10-11 before going FI.
The 2010-2011s can do FI - but there are limitations in the fuel system and partly the fact the LLT is a 11.4:1 compression ratio motor. But it is true that a flex fuel engine is designed from the get-go to run a much larger quantity of fuel so maybe at least the fuel system issues will go away.

EDIT (sorry I read this as the 10-11 not being able to do FI - too early - need coffee)

vince, have u had any cold start issue when running e85. I've heard peoples switching spark plugs to deal with it and some not having any issue.
Theres so much debate with running e85 in a non flex fuel vehicle that all this is hurting my head.

I ran it in my HHR SS during colder months here (like around 40*F in the morning) and the car was a little more ornery during startup.

if this work than I plan to only run it through summer anyway. Im not too sure how the water traces in alcohol will affect my fuel tank/line/system during cold winter.
Who need all that power in snow or freezing ground anyway, but I sure did have fun in my STi

Vince- good to hear that you'll be tuning for the new v6 as well. I've been wanting Gen 5 since before they came out, and this may be the year I finally get one. I always had my eye on a SS, but with gas prices the way they are a 323hp V6 is sounding mighty fine

I think the only thing I'm not a huge fan of on the new engine are the integrated exhaust manifolds, so headers are out. I'm hoping there is some swift support for new intakes and exhaust setups (assuming that current intakes and cat-backs will no longer fit? I can't see anyone knowing that yet.) Hmm...Solo highflow resonator-cats for the new v6?

Yeah, it looks like they are taking the design cue from the 3.0L V6 which has the "integrated exhaust manifold".

I always thought they did that so they could easily bolt a turbo directly to the cylinder head! ;-)

Here's hoping that's the direction they are going!

I haven't seen anything recent on it, but there was a rumor circulating awhile ago that a new sedan from Cadillac was going to have the LF3 engine, which is the LF1 (3.0L V6) with twin turbochargers on it. That would be a good answer to Ford's EcoBoost (SIDI, twin-turbocharged V6).

I had a 2010 Buick LaCrosse for awhile with the LF1 in it (which was specifically to get a jump on the next generation ECMs coming from GM) and I showed it to a local company that builds headers and exhaust systems and the owner started swearing up a storm, realizing he wouldn't be able to sell headers to vehicle owners with engines of this design.

My guess is that it is either an emissions issue, cost savings issue (or both). It is weird seeing a downpipe bolted right to the side of a cylinder head, though!

It is definitely a cost savings. Apparently Lotus started it and Honda is planning on introducting one in either 2012 or 2013. What I like is it does leave room in the engine bay for turbos. What I don't like is you don't get to do headers if you want to stay NA. I guess there's always porting and a bigger downpipe though?!?

Do you really want to void the warranty this soon on a new car?

Trifecta tuning is the only one offering tunes on the new 2012 LFX engine. He has done great things for us so far, and I'm sure he will for LFX owners, but I don't know if he has actually tuned a 2012 yet or not.

I'd love to see what a good tune for the 2012 can do.
