Commits weekly crime
|
Look...the Camaro is an awesome car, no matter whether it's a V6 or a V8.
That being said, I don't consider myself better, but I do consider the car FASTER, more POWERFUL, and sweeter SOUNDING than the V6. Those of us that got the V8 paid for the better version of the car. Doesn't make us better...but it would be silly to say that the V6 is a "better" car than the V8. It's a more affordable, higher milage version, yes. And, by that criteria, a Prius is a better car than the Camaro. That's not how I judge the Camaro...it's a muscle/sports car. Faster is better. Modded is better. And, the V8 -is- better. I love that people are able to get the V6. But lets not kid ourselves. The V8 is what EVERYONE looks for when asking about this car. Look at all the posts about the V6 people trying to "justify" the V6 to people by saying it has 312 horsepower. I've never EVER had to justify my V8 purchase to anyone. I get asked, and when I tell them I have the V8, the response is always "Good Choice" or something similar. I never have knocked those that got a V6...it's still a Camaro, and an awesome car. But comparing the two is like comparing raisins to oranges. You really -can't- compare them.

I think the V6 crowd has the SS guys all wrong. I really don't care what car anyone else has, or what's under the hood. You want the V6 more power to you...enjoy and be happy.
I wanted the V8, primarily because there is no such thing as too much power. I also never wanted to have to explain why I didn't get the big engine.....I don't think it's SS guys saying this, as much as its general perception that the V6 is the economy version of the Camaro (or Mustang, or Challenger, or pickup truck, or full sized SUV)

Had a 2011 1LT/RS and traded it for a 2011 2SS/RS Convertible. Had to have the convertible and had to have the SS. Kept the automatic though. Two totally different cars in more ways than one. I'm enjoying the reputation that goes with driving an SS. Always wanted one even back to when I had a 67 Chevelle (non-SS). I can afford it so I've got it.

I dont care what you drive. I only care about what I do. With that said I bought my car because its what a camaro is to me.. That and my wife made me sell my WS6 and I missed her dearly. So now that the wifes gone
I now have some V8 grunt when I start my day. I assume there will always be those that feel supierior and happen to act like that.. but thats with anything.

Tell the V6 guys no one can make you feel inferior without your consent. Besides, a car that has a little better than 300 horses is nothing to sneeze at... and it looks pretty dog gone good to boot. Everyone gets that self-conscious feeling about the V6 when you own one. Many are guilty when they ask, "Is that the Hemi?" or "Is that the V8?" and then comes the inevitable explanation / justification of why someone bought the V6. Enjoy your car... V6 or V8 ... The Camaro is still a killer ride regardless of which model you own. |

You are obviously missing the point. I think it water downs the brand by having cheap versions of the same model. You can already see it with Mustangs. I guess that is the price I pay for not being able to afford a higher end vehicle. Just my opinion, you dont have to be bitter about it.

Man, I don't feel that way about my SS... I love it. Now, the convertibles right now are priced at what I like to call, "stupid money".... that nice little premium the dealers are hosing people with due to "availability"... I won't pay a $5,000 premium just to have bragging rights for a month or two. |

There's a reason why theres a V6 and a V8 model. 2 different markets.
The V8 is for people that really want the power. But mostly, in day to day, it's a waste IMO. Insurance, gas, and pricing, is it really worth it just to say I have the V8? But for most, having the roar and little extra means alot. More power to them, it's their money. When I bought my V6, the only person I thought of was myself. What I could afford and what I wanted. Most of the flack I've gotten for having a V6 was from one power hungry friend who never owned a sports car. Most people for dogging you for not having a V8 will probably never own one anyways. It's that group of people that look at magazines and wish they had the best car. I chose a 300+ hp sports coupe. And I'm happy. |

I would rather pay a bit more for the SS to off set the profit lost by them selling low end models, to me it would be worth the premium in brand and resale value. Right now the Camaro's resale value is fantastic that isnt going to be the case as the used markets starts to fill up. |

I didn't pay any "stupid money". There wasn't any dealer markup on mine. Maybe you're in the wrong area of the country. I haven't seen any dealer markups on convertibles.
