I feel bad for what happened to you and hopefully you and your camaro will bounce back quickly. I think the majority of C5 drivers try to be careful, but I continue to express what a jungle it is out there when we take to the highway in our camaros. There are some really bad drivers out there who are texting, phoning, etc. and seem to have a "whatever" type of attitude when they cause accidents. It's sort of the norm of todays fast paced world we live in. She needs to be taught a lesson so she may think about it next time she encounters a new camaro. I like the drive-by idea to her house by a bunch of roaring camaros to give her something to think about. (just don't shoot her--haha).

Thank you, BlueDragonVT - like I don't have enough second-guessing as it is (I should've left earlier/later for lunch, should've taken a different route, etc.)

And thanks to all of you for your kind words of support for me and my car. I should be getting the estimate this afternoon. I'll keep you all posted.

I would talk to a lawyer. I know I guy where I work who was cut off by a woman on her cell phone. She took off his front bumper with her SUV and pushed him up a curb. The lawyer got him all kinds of damages paid that the insurance company wasn't even thinking about shelling out. Here in Texas, cell phone accidents get taken seriously especially in El Paso since they passed the ordinance about a year ago.

wow thats unbelievable, the same thing happened to me in November, although I was sideswiped and the whole passenger side of my car got ruined. Still dealing with that headache of getting it repaired right
Im glad your ok, wish it never happened to you, I know the feeling and its the worst, especially when the car means soo much and you cant just hop into another Camaro. I hope she gets fixed right. keep on your toes and bring it to a shop you truly trust. I got shafted by my dealer so make sure its someone whos got talent and takes pride in their work. Im soo sorry to hear about it hope you still come to Oshawa. I will meet you there and show you my ride

Oh and now im paranoid when rolling into busy intersections as your situation was exactly the same as mine, however the car turned right into me but same scenario. I still need to get over that fear...if I ever do

OK - a couple of thoughts........

I'm HOPING that people were joking about going past the other woman's house --engines roaring.........we don't want to look like a bunch of outlaws.

Yes - she was in the wrong - hopefully she'll think twice about using her phone while driving.

As to hiring an attorney? the only one that wins there in reality is the attorney.

I'm upset about 'Spirit' and Susan - but let's not let this get out of control.

That's awful, I can't imagine. I've been hit twice but mine was still drivable after both... losing it to such stupidity is a crime.

If I were in that situation I would have asked if I could borrow her cell phone to call in the police report then hurled it as far into whatever ditch I could manage. I'm a pretty relaxed driver until I can see someone talking on their phone. When I get calls with the bluetooth I'll answer, and if I know the conversation is going to be more than a minute long I tell the other person I'll call them back.

I am so sorry to hear this especially with the signatures on the car. Hopefully they can get it fixed in time for you to make it to Oshawa. I have been around auto body all my life and can tell you that incredible things can happen behind those garage doors. I'm glad it was only a fender and nothing more... I hope you can get to sleep tonight...

Scott is absolutely right - I have to wait and see how her insurance company will handle this (hopefully fairly). I just want my car put back together they way she was before. If there's a difference between what they're offering and what it will cost to do it right, then I'll look at my options. I don't view accidents as a means to make money - that just hurts all of us in the end. Trust me, I know how emotional this is - but I also know Camaro owners are pretty cool folks and above doing any drive-bys (even to distracted older women driving Acuras).
