That wouldn't even hurt my engine. (87 octane is a huge no-no for supercharged engines)

Just like using stimulus money to build signs that say "this project was funded by your stimulus money" creates jobs....

Oregon is the only other state that has that law. That is why I always get out of my Camaro and stand by the rear of the car while they are filling it.

Yer right ... it is one of the dumbest laws on the books ... but on the upside (as mentioned before) it creates jobs (I guess).

I live in the greater Portland area but in Washington you can pump yer own (fuel that is ) but the prices are higher (not much, but they are higher by about 5 to 8 cents /gal) in Washington.

Remember - everyone out here in CA get's 91... so a splash of 87 in a tank full of 93 is still going to have more octane than out here.

i've lived in New Jersey for the past 15 years and I always pump my own gas. Is it actually written somewhere that it is illegal for you to pump your gas? or did you hear that from someone?

anyway, you'll be fine with the 87.

You know I never thought of that, pretty interesting little factoid. Thanks.

Tipping is a pretty personal thing IMHO. You either do it, or you don't. And it's nobody's business to tell you whether you should or should not have to. This is coming from someone who pays for their Camaro based on the generosity of others

The rest of this response is my personal opinion. (Not saying this is what ANYONE else should do)

Anyone who has worked for tips (and everyone should at some point in their life) will agree that a reasonable tip is fair for gas station attendants.

I usually tip 1 or two dollars per fill up on the RARE occasion that I use full service.

No need to overtip, and anything less than a dollar is kind of insulting to some folks. I think 1 or two bucks is fair for five minutes of their time. I could go on about this topic for hours in regards to tipping (Waitresses, bartenders, baristas, the cable guy, <3 casino employees ) But that would be WAY off topic.

OP: You should be fine. Worst case scenario is you do a fuse pull after you run your tank nearly dry. If the fuse pull DIY scares you, then take it to the dealer and have them do it.

BTW I did a fuse pull on my LS3...I am NOT mechanically inclined, I don't even change my own oil. It is VERY simple. A child could probably do it, with adult supervision of course.

The real question is why does anyone want to pump their own gas? When I drive south for vacation its always a drag.
Besides NJ probably has the some of lowest gas prices in the US.
