Anyone out there besides dealers ever tried AMSOIL?

Is there anyone out there that actually uses AMSOIL besides dealers? I have yet to hear of anyone that uses it except for the folks that sell it. I know it's been around for a long time and I know some will say search is your friend, but if I find someone that uses it then I have a few questions for you.

Thanks for your time.

I have not ever used Amsoil and the reason being is that I have found the dealers who sell it to be pushy as you would not believe. My thought is if you have to be that pushy to sell or validate your product then it makes me a little leery.

It may be a great product but I like Redline myself.

Cheers

I've used it in the past. The problem is without oil analysis how you are really going to know how good an oil is.

I too am not found of the dealers or my perception of a pyramid operation.

How does it compare with Mobile one after draining it. I currently use Mobile1 Extended and it always come out dark and I change my oil every 3 - 4k miles. I am not use to an oil that looks that bad between changes. This is not only in the Camaro, but it also looks the same in the Equinox as well.

Thanks for your feedback!!

It figured if it's any good then I would pay the $20 year fee and by it at wholesale and it would be comp to the Mobile1 price. I understand about pushy sales people though.. It's a big turn off.

When you used it...How did you like it to what you use now? Can you tell any difference between oil changes?

Thanks for your time.

That's why I really want to hear from folks that have used it vs. pushy sales people.

Thanks for your time.

I used it years ago and it took a long time for the color of it to get dark (a good thing). My next oil change in my SS will be with Amsoil 5W30 which is now dexos1 approved. The dealer I bought it from was not pushy at all.

The color of oil after use is irrelevant. This is an old myth. Mobil 1 EP is an outstanding oil. I've used and use Amsoil in various vehicles. Guess what? It looks dark when it comes out as well. Oil is supposed to be dark when it comes out...that's how you know it is working.

Want to be suspicious of an oil? Run it for 3,000 miles or longer, then drain it. If it comes out a golden honey color or lighter; be very worried. That means it isn't working.

I have used various name brand oils over the years in small engines and in performance vehicles, but I have never seen anything that looks that bad. To me it looks likes it breaking down and ready to be changed. I am by no means knocking any of the oils. I just want to be sure that it's not breaking down too soon.

I used to use Quaker State for my old car but with my Camaro i decided i would give Amsoil a try. Over stock oil that came with my Camaro i averaged around 2 MPG over stock with cruise set at 60 mph on a mostly flat stretch of highway. I change my Oil once a year which is plenty with Amsoil. I use the reccomended WIX filter also so it's good for about 15k miles between changes . I have used Amsoil since about 5 thousand miles and have around 17000 now but my last change was at about 14,500 when i returned from my deployment. The engine runs smoother than it did with regular oil as well. I would say it's worth getting

Mobil 1 0-40 is one of Mobil's best formulated oils. That's what I'm using. I also like Royal Purple a good bit. Royal Purple 5w30 is a great oil as well.

Also, if you are going to run a fancy oil, change it every 7K-10K miles. The oils will most likely last up to 15K miles but I tend not to push my oils.

That's encouraging news... I think I will try and see how I like it. Are you running any type of boost?
