I live in CT where it is illegal to talk on the phone (and text too), but do you think that stops these idiots from doing so?

I am sorry to see the damage on the OP's car, but at least they were not physically injured.

Kind of funny how you and others egg me on then accuse me of beating a dead horse because I reply to your comments.

It seems to me my reasoning skills are far superior to your own if you just take every thing you see written on the internet as gospel because as far as I can tell that is whats going on here.

I'm nobody's friend here, I'm not going to sugar coat anything and I'll call it as I see it. I've said my peace a few pages back. If ya'll want to keep going around and around some more I dont mind it gives me something to do, by all means keep me occupied.

Studies have shown that hands free does not mean you are any less distracted. The point is that your mind is somewhere else instead of on driving. Unless you are a NASCAR driver communicating with your pit just save the chit chat for later.

Sorry about your car.

This just in - adjuster is submitting damages as $9500. My shop had put in some wiggle room so this will work for them. Two items may have to be resubmitted and insurance has already said they will approve if it turns out their damaged or can't be repaired: 1) front spoiler was still intact except for a slight crease. shop will try to fix, but if they can't, insurance will pay to replace it; 2) suspension parts - knuckle hub & bearing may have to be replaced but until they get into the project, they don't know if it's damaged. again, insurance said if it's broke, they'll replace it. Also, all new parts from GM will be installed .

Sidenote - adjuster & claim case manager are putting it in as 100% liability on their client's part. Waiting for sign-off from the supervisor, which we anticipate to come tomorrow.

The work begins - I'll try to get pix of the rebuild & post since there's been so much interest in this thread (2,900 views? holy crap!). I read every post & love the kind words of comfort, support & encouragement! You rock

Ruffian: they may also find some additional damage once they start removing body panels. That's completely normal. If they do, the body shop will have the insurance adjuster or appraiser come out and write up what's called a 'supplemental appraisal/estimate'. This will be added to the original estimate of the repairs.

Hang in there!

That's exactly what the adjuster said.

Glad things are moving along so that Spirit is up and running soon. It's an amazing car and as you and I talked at Main Street In Motion, the emotional connection to our cars is fierce! I'll get flamed for this no doubt, but every night before bedtime I open the garage door and wish Black Beauty a good night. She is truly my baby. Once the car is paid off I'm saving for that large burial plot you and I discussed because like you, this car is going to the grave with me.

Thanks GM for making this amazing vehicle and for engineering it to be fast and safe. Because you did, we will enjoy many more events with our wonderful friend Ruffian and her beautiful car.

Call if you need a shoulder. Glad you're posting the progress so we can share in your recovery.
