You can get vinyl tint from many places (the sponsor forum here, ebay), price will vary though. Most seem to use the same stuff, but some are going have better material than others. I bought the full set from Chauffe Performance Tint a (forum sponsor here). By far the most expensive tints I saw, but the products seemed like good quality and I don't mind supporting the cause a little. But to be honest the tail lights were the hardest part to get right. The curve of the lens makes it hard to get the film flat. The end result is that it looks good, but i can see the imperfections when I look.
I've also heard of guys using the spray tint. I do not have any experience with that stuff so hopefully someone else will chime in.
Also this thread will probably generate a bunch of people telling you it is illegal, and that if you get rear-ended with the tint on it is your fault. I do NOT doubt that they are right. I just figure it is like any other modification, you take your chances at getting a ticket to have a car that looks the way you want.
Hope this helps.

VHT spray on tint. 3 coats. 11.99 OReillys Auto store.

It won't peel, crack, fade or get stolen or blown off when driving.

I am a painter in Washington and just did mine. what I did was wet sand the lenses with 600 then apply 2 coats of VHT Night shades let it cure over night! then 2 coats of I-Pole Euro clear. The finish is more durable than your factory paint and looks awesome. I will post some pictures when I get home next week. I also am going to do my reverse, side marker lights.

Thanks. I had "SS FTW" last year, but I think people didn't really know that FTW stands for "for the win." It prompted a lot of sour looks and some rather rude gestures from other drivers. If people are going to act po'd at me, I at least want to have earned it. The new plates should do the trick.

I guess now is as good of a time as ever to chime in and ask....

Is there anybody that can tell me a good place to get tint that is not black? I personally don't like the blacked out lenses and I would much rather it be closer to the RS tail lights than black. So does anybody know what % tint would make it look close to the RS tails or maybe only slightly darker? I would also think that is legal because they come from the factory a certain darkness, so why couldn't I make mine close to that, right?

Contact nick at: nchauffe@gmail.com and explain what you want.

He own chauffe performance. He used to have all kinds of shades of tint film. I bet he can help you.

BTW, I am in no way affiliated with chauffe performance. I have only purchased a few pieces of tint film from him and when I messed up a piece of fiml, he replaced the piece for free. I'm just trying to help out some fellow C5 members by giving them this info.

Thanks for the info Darth I'll shoot him an email. I've never really liked the blacked out lights on a black car, and I have always liked the RS tails... but there is not enough room in my wallet for new tail lights lol
