Update - just heard from the dealer who called the DBC: "...they told me the car will be on the rail wagon tomorrow. They do not provide tracking numbers so Im told. They asked me to call them on Monday to get the progress from them. They also marked the car hot since its a sold unit."

We'll see...

So I have been trying to get a railcar number so I called GM support. Talked to a rep. the other day and they said they would call me back. To my surprise they have called me back twice. Very impressed by the customer service.
So the bottom line is, ever though my car shows as shipped my car is still not on a railcar.
How can that be? Wouldn't it show as bayed and not shipped?
The wait continues.

Who knows - even with the status updates we have visibility into, the process still seems remarkably indeterminate. You would think that with sold orders, they would try to expedite the vehicle rather than let it sit around for a week or two. I've also never understood why the ordering/production/shipment process has never been optimized to cater to the desires of the special order customer - who is likely the most loyal and enthusiastic customer.

Did you get the impression that they would have given you a rail car number if they had it? Just curious if anyone has actually been able to do rail car tracking. My dealer told me they were not giving our rail car numbers now, but this has a high BS-level I suspect.

Hope mine (built 5/10, no stripes) finally gets a ride out of there this week...

It's strange also that I can't see my order history any more. Unless that's they way they do it once you have a VIN.
Just see my VIN and this
Order #PPJZRW
Status 05/14/2011 - (4B00)

Before when I could all the order codes. It said 05/15/2011 (4200) then the next line was 05/14/2011 - (4B00)
Why wouldn't the dates be in the right order.
I have been working on getting my wife this car since mid-February.

Your Dealer can call the GM Dealer Business Center and get the Railcar # if they want to. I think some just dont want to take the time to do it. My dealer did it for me while i was in her office and it took 5 min.

What info did they need?
Just the order number and VIN?
