So, pre-ordering before March 16th didn't lock the auto price at $995? Or will the extra $190 be applied back later?

Again, does the buyers order have a specific price OR MSRP at time of delivery?

That's the key.

DISCLOSURE STATEMENT

For everyone reading this thread:

Notice I have not revealed where I am other than NY and I am not doing this to solicit business from other dealers. We have a guide number of 9 and only took 15 pre-orders and are not accepting any more until the car gets released in volume. So you know my motive here is not financial.

That being said, I would like to make a small statement about the purpose of this thread. I know there are dealers (like myself) that read this thread. To all of you, I know how difficult business is and I hope I am not causing trouble for you by offering this info. Actually, the easier it is for the customers to understand by reading this thread, hopefully they won't be busting balls and being uneducated about the process. Therefore making it easier for everyone. SInce I haven't received any "death" threats from dealers, I will assume all is cool.

To everyone else, please understand that the car business is just like any other. There are experts and then there are slackers and everyone in between. Try to cut your dealer some slack. Most of you are dealing with salespeople who have less understanding of the process than you do now (thanks to me, LOL). If you call the dealer for info, please be nice and try to talk to a manager that handles the orders. If he blows you off, there's no excuse for that and once you get your Camaro, hopefully you won't need the dealer for anything past that.

Thanks for listening.

BTW, if you go into your dealer, make sure you are wearing your official badge.

This way they know who they are messing with.

When did the MSRP go up from the previously quoted $33430 for the 2SS?

Mine wrote "price will be msrp on factory sticker." Though on a seperate sheet it was priced out the the numbers we had at the time (November). Did I goof it?

Sounds to me like you'll be paying the price that is on the sticker when the car arrives. :(

"price will be msrp on factory sticker"

I think that answers your question. The dealer was foolish to put pricing on the original order knowing that there would be price increases either with or without price protection.

They put themselves in an akward position by doing so.

I'm sure if you ask without attitude, maybe they will agree to the lower figure OR give you the difference once they receive it from GM (could take weeks after delivery).

Also, since someone is going to ask anyway, better make sure the name and address on the original GM order matches EXACTLY to the delivery info given to GM's delivery system.

Any errors can result in non-payment of price protection. I know because it happened to us. We finally got it but it was just a typo.

I really hope once March 16th gets here GM will start busting these Camaros out! WE HAVE MONEY WE WANT TO SPEND!!! I'm not at the top of the list so I'm praying GM starts accepting more preorders as the weeks go on. My dealership only got 1 preorder accepted as of right now so my wait will continue.

Funny you should mention that. They did in fact fat finger my first name "Neall" instead of "Neal." I mentioned it once and asked them to change it since they were making a change to the order. Should I double check to make sure they corrected it.

They also said they didn't get an April car either. Since their PG was only 6 I figured that they *had* to get 1 a month starting in April - or should I be even more patient?

Thanks for the efforts here RPO!

RPO,

I qualify for the college discount. However, I did not know about this discount when I ordered my Camaro.... so I don’t have this in a contract.

I know this has been discussed before.... but now that you are here....

Is there any reason the dealership will not honor it? i.e. ... Does this money come out of GM's pocket, or the dealerships pocket?

If it is the dealership's pocket, what leverage can I use to get the discount?
....... Maybe if I leave the car up there for a week for gawkers?

.......Maybe if I get them to paint the GFX instead of taking them to my painter friend who is doing my stripes?

.......What might make you want to honor it?

I'm not RPO obviously, and he will confirm or deny, but i believe it comes out of GM's pocket (as it is their offer) and the dealer is reimbursed
