Bust out the policy contract and see what it says. My repaint after keying cost close to 4k on a different car with a much lower value than the Camaro and USAA paid it all. Other accidents all they needed was a write-up from one of their recommended installers and they paid whatever it cost; if I went to a shop I wanted they'd only pay up to what an adjustor would determine to be the max amount and cut me a check personally to pay where I wanted.

I'd speak to a manager and not one of the standards claim reps.

I wouldn't mind putting in 10 or 20 dollars for a cause like this.I served and that car needs to be whole again.

I got two separate estimates for the body work, replacing the glass, etc before I started and was giving the green light from the insurance adjuster who inspected the car.
You need to speak to another rep! I have had USAA for 7 Years had 3 claims one being almost an entire restoration when my 01 Rodeo was victim to a hit and run. Repair costed 8400 I paid my 500 deductible and that was it! This was 2003 and I had only been with them for roughly 6months at the time!!!!!!

I have 17 years with USAA and not a single problem. I'd be making a call to the lizard if they don't make it right.

If anyone deals with USAA, you know the claims process is done online.

So today, I sent them a PM, telling them, I was not a happy camper with thier proposed settlement! And provided them with the facts and links to document everything done to V1 and below is the response I got back:

I appreciate your comments.........

Very close to getting the USO to agree to bring Veteran1 over to IRAQ... Been working on this for almost a year and it looks like it's close to happening!!

I had 2 separate estimates for $6500-$7500 and now USAA is saying they only going to authorized $4400.......... And the both body shops, said no way......

And that $4400 is to include the replacement of the windows..
I would not settle with what USAA tells you they will pay. They always low ball at first, took me 3 weeks to get my insurance company to go up the extra couple grand... but they did.

I can tell you exactly what is going on as I have a good friend who is a p/t adjuster for one of the larger insurance companies. He says that most all companies treat a key job as possible self inflicted, that being said what they refuse to do is give you a superior paint job to what your car had innitially, basically not giving the customer a chance to improve his/her vehicle. When you go out and get an estimate for 8-10k that is obviously for a superior finish, not what the factory provided. I hope this helps to clarify things a bit.

It's a sad day when an insurance company he has been paying for 25 years with ONE claim is considering this self inflicted. He has before pics, he got estimates to get it EXACTLY how it was before. How is that improving? What would be the purpose of him keying his car just to get it redone how it was?

Insurance companies are vampires. They make INSANE profits. Trust me, it's my family business whether I like it or not.

Count me in for a small donation if USAA doesn't come through. I don't have a lot to give, but I want to see that car back up and running how it was before.
