If the STi owner is telling the truth (370 awhp), his car is capable of running
11s if setup and driven properly.

But sometimes cars making big numbers run like crap. But if the car is tuned and setup properly, it should be capable of running down in the 11s.

That's not true. Stock is 1 bar or 14.7 psi target boost. 17 lbs is very conservative.

I own a 2010 SS and a lightly modded 2008 STI. If the sti guy can drive YOU ARE SUNK. My STI only has a turboback, intake, and reflash. It will run 8.0 in the 1/8 mile all day long run 1.6 or lower 60ft times everytime. If you want to beat that car take it out on the freeway. My STI is done at 110mph

My friend has an 06 STI that has had "some work" done to it and it is very fast!! We hit the road track the other day and went from a 40mph roll on the long straight. We were almost dead even up to 140mph. The dyno numbers are pretty close to each other. I put both dyno's up for comparison. We have a lot of fun driving around

Lots of factors come into play like gearing. The STi's gearing is really tight (close ratio). You have to shift into 5th gear around 95 mph in an STi.
I remember in my 04 STi having to shift into 5th gear going down the 1/4 mile.
That works great for rally racing, but all that shifting can have a negative effect racing in a straight line. But those close ratios keep the engine in its sweet spot from basically any speed.

Picked this up over in NASIOC

Top Speed in 1 gear = 36.740 MPH
And changes into 2 gear at 4570 RPM dropping 2430 RPM
Top Speed in 2 gear = 56.272 MPH
And changes into 3 gear at 5198 RPM dropping 1802 RPM
Top Speed in 3 gear = 75.776 MPH
And changes into 4 gear at 5330 RPM dropping 1670 RPM
Top Speed in 4 gear = 99.526 MPH
And changes into 5 gear at 5067 RPM dropping 1933 RPM
Top Speed in 5 gear = 137.490 MPH
And changes into 6 gear at 5412 RPM dropping 1588 RPM
Top Speed in 6 gear = 177.821 MPH

Yes - He had to row through the gears pretty good. I only had to shift twice. That helped me stay out in front a little bit.

Compared to his 2007 Subaru Impreza STI with a single turbo which he told me is making 370 to the wheels. Let me know if I am in over my head before I guarantee something.

The longer 3 and 4 from the 07 sti can help, but what is really needed is a taller final drive. It's absurd how short the gears in these cars are. It's a hell of a lot of fun, but in a straight line it's a huge disadvantage to have to shift that often. We don't have the 5spd swap option the evo guys have (or if they don't have an MR, they have it from the factory).

I know that extra shift really screws up acceleration times. My friend with with a stock 09 WRX has beaten more then a few stock STI's because of the extra shift required in the STI 6 speed.

I have the same problem with my 6 speed Cummins vs the 5 speeds which can be a whole second quicker in the 1/4.

It's a much bigger problem for stock turbo sti's than cars with bigger turbos. Torque is well over 400 to the wheels in the mid-range, but it falls sharply up top and is impossible to take advantage of because of the horribly short gearing. On a road course it's almost ideal, but in a straight line it's horrid. Sure is a hell of a lot of fun though, especially until the top of 3rd.
