Its just a normal toggle switch. The wire running from the switch to turn on the lights is tied into where the wires are also getting power from the dome light. So when I turn the switch on its also feeding the dome light. For how I was doing it, it was the only way, and then I realized what was going to happen. How would the other switch work? Thanks for your quick response. Sitting in my car on the lap top haha.

disconnect the power from one source or the other for now until you can install a SPDT switch.

So would I then just run a wire from where I tied into the dome light, and it will connect to the switch and act like a bridge (so the switch will have one more accesory spot, not just 1) and then when i turn the switch to the other spot, it will use my 12v power and just turn on the footwells? |

You would connect a wire to one side of the switch that would run to where you tie into the dome light power. Then you would run a wire from the constant power source to the other side of the switch. Then connect your positive wire from the lights o the output of the switch. If it is a LED type switch you will need to connect the ground for the LED in the switch.

So when the switch is in the dome light position, everything will work normal, on and off with doors open etc. and the foot wells will be on. When the switch is in the other position, it will use my 12v source and turn only the footwells on, no dome light. If thats correct thats exactly what i needed. |

does anyone have a pic of the constant 12V power cable which i could easily use for a "switch included" installation. the big red one from the cigarrette lighter in the middle console seems a little to thick for me. which one did you guys use?

that red one isnt constant its only on when the key is in the ingnition and turned 2 clicks .. if thats what you want then you can follow that red wire and it turns into a smaller green wire under that trim piece
