Help!!!!Having Problem Passing Emissions!!!!
I have had my SS for a year now and I was supposed to get my tags renewed at the end of April, but I can't pass emissions due to all the readiness monitors are not in the "Ready" state. I have a Cam, LT Kook's headers, High Flow Cats, Edelbrock E-Force, CAI, Jannetty Custom Tune, Twin Fuel Pumps and the rest of the upgrades are in my signature. Long story short at one time I had a CEL on due to a slight kink in the EVAP hose so I ordered a aftermarket one from TECHAFX and is is a whole lot better quality than the factory one of the one that comes with the E-Force set-up. I installed the hose and reset the CEL and drove the vehicle approximately 200 miles and the readiness monitors are still not reseting. Here is what I get when I check the system and in that order.
Misfire Monitor Ready Fuel System Ready Comprehen Comp Ready Catalyst ready EVAP System Not Ready Oxygen Sensor Not Ready HTD 02 Sensor Ready I notifed Ted and he sent me another tune and I have installed it and drove another 70 or so miles and now I am showing this Misfire Monitor Ready Fuel System Ready Comprehen Comp Ready Catalyst Not Ready EVAP System Not Ready Oxygen Sensor Not Ready HTD 02 Sensor Ready The car runs fantastic, but I can't get it to read everything to pass emissions... Any help out there would be appreciated!!!!!! Thx, Ray

You need to drive it in a mixture of situations, i.e. traffic/highway/various speeds, and also will need to turn the car off and restart it again a few times. There are certain procedures to get the monitors to run in a quick manner, though I'm not sure what they are in a GM. After I had my tune, I tried getting a sticker after about 65 miles and didn't pass. I went back a while later and all was good.

Yea you are going to have to keep cycling it and getting more miles on it. There is no magic number really, but I've seen it take a couple hundred miles for them to set in some cases.

Thanks!!! Was yours done with just a tune or did you have to use anti-foulers to get the job done? Also did it take over 100 miles to get your ready monitors to reset?

Ted has sent me a 3rd tune today to try and make this work for emissions and if this this not work I will just shi*......
I am really nervous driving on expired tags and here in TN all readiness monitors have to be functional to pass the inspection. Ted did mention that if I get a CEL I may have to use anti-foul plugs on the rear 02's to make this work..If anyone else has any suggestions at all please chime in.... ![]() Thanks, Ray

Best bet is to put the miles on the car after the new tune. The O2 sensors and catalyst reading not ready means you have not spent sustained driving time at 55-65mph under light load. Normally this happens when you accelerate over 50% throttle when getting up to that speed (freeway on ramp) and the condition does not set for the test to be run.
For example, my LT1 car takes between 10 and 50 miles of driving to clear all not ready errors after a tuning session. It's all about getting the conditions right for the PCM to enter its monitor test available status. |
