keep dreaming if you think a stock SS will be a 12 second car normally... the avg person can expect it to be low/mid 13s

I also agree that a 13 second car is nothing to get overly excited about ... I hope the ZL-1 comes in mid-high 11s
In total agreement with you! With all that I have read so far in various road tests is that a stock SS LS3 is at best a 13 sec. flat 1/4 mile car. Which is really not bad for a nearly 2 ton car!

I see the guys defending the op didn't read the thread title. Since when did "customers" become one guy?

imo, i think that link are with some fluke cars... if you remember when the 5th gen first debuted, there was this whole controversy about 'slow' SSs ... mostly the A6. point is, it appeared that not all cars were made exactly even and it also depends on how you originally break in the car...

i would personally consider anyone to get below a 13 on a stock SS to be a fluke, and a lucky sob at that lol

I wasn't at any of them, so I can't comment beyond what's listed.. but, a lot goes in to track prep, day/time, weather conditions, the track itself (some are known fast/slow), driver skill, fuel being used, tire pressure, etc.

I wasn't one with a sub-13 stock SS..

I just read this entire thread, and I have a few things to add..

HufferSS, bro, you have my respect. No one in this forum has stuck to there opinion as deeply as you.

However, there are a lot of things you said that probably weren't the best things to say.

I think you went wrong as soon as your title by stating, "Build the Camaro WE want." That's what pissed people off from the start. You want Chevrolet to build the Camaro you want. I advise you not to speak for the whole community of Camaro5, we all don't share the same opinion as you.

Also, If I were you, I wouldn't say, " Be more like Chrysler. " This is Chevrolet. Not Chrysler. If you wanted the stuff Chrysler has on their cars, then you should've bought a Chrylser.

As to your problem with your Camaro not being good enough, why don't you start modding it instead of fighting on a forum? I'm sure if you purchased the right mods, you could get the exact Camaro you want.

Lastly, I think you're being a little too defensive and sensitive to what other people are saying. Some of them are just stating their opinions, as are you. There's not need to start getting defensive. I know, some of them are trying to start stuff. To the ones that are trying to start stuff, you can say whatever you want to them as long as it follows the Camaro5 rules.

Now, I'm not trying to attack you or anything, and hopefully you won't see this post as me insulting you or any of that.

I wish you the best of luck getting the Camaro you want.

As I'd mentioned a longgggggggggg time ago in this thread - I think there are a couple of things that set some people off:

1.......It's the way you said it -

and

2. ......it's the way you implied that "We" want something when in fact it's what 'you' want.......

and

(....at least in my case...) 3. - the idea that Chevrolet and GM are not listening to their customers. Believe me - I don't know of any other brands that have MORE GM people interacting with their owners than the Camaro and the Corvette.......we really ARE listening.........

Now - I'd also posted that we're supposedly all friends on this site......

I think much of the animosity that can sometimes occur is due to the incredible passion that these automobiles stir within us..........

So - I'll say it again - "You may want to dial the 'brash' knob down one or two clicks....."

And to some others - let's keep it friendly..........

actually - that's not necessarily true -

We think that those cars 'flew' off the shelf.........let me assure you that they did not. They were expen$$$$$$$ive!

My family's dealership was about 50 miles from Yenko - and I recall being there in late August of 1970 and there were still a whole bunch of 1969 Camaros sitting on his lot...................

The mighty 1969 ZL1s - Fred Gibb ordered 'em - we bought a bunch back and talked other dealers into taking them.........

Not everyone back then wanted all that performance - don't believe me? Go look in the Camaro White book and see the numbers of In-line 6s and small
V8s sold back then...........

Moral of the story: What you want and what I want may be at complete odds.....

Were there only 69 ZL1s because Chevy limited production or only that many cause people just weren't buying them?

No, Chevrolet limited production so the demand for them would be greater.
