I'd think if the "respect" factor was that important to you, you would've gotten the SS in the first place. If I already had a V6 - which looks almost exactly like the SS and at 300 hp is faster than 80% of the other cars on the road anyway - I wouldn't trade up now and take a financial beating just to impress strangers. But it's your car, your money, and your life, so only you can (should!) be making this decision. Good luck either way.

Me personally if I were to trade up it would b to the zl1 or maybe vert SS but not just a regular SS. Just dont think v6 to v8 trade up is worth the money u would lose imho. Normally its a lot more then what people really realize when you consider all the factors. Modding the 6 is also a option personally I love what they did with Leno's V6 and would take that over a SS any day

You do what makes you happy. In the long run, its YOUR car, your living with it. Getting a V6 doesn't mean you didn't have the money for the SS. Most people prefer it. I paid my Camaro full in cash. After me and my husband talked about it, i got the 2LT because of the look without that ugly mail slot and the horsepower. (My husband doesn't trust me with 400 of it ) In the end, i am super happy with mine, especially the color and continuing add ons. I do plan on putting a supercharger though, whether he likes it or not.

I drive an LS currently, and thoroughly enjoy it. A stripped down basic Camaro is what I like. Style and performance matter to me, flash and extras do not. I considered the 1SS , but decided against it at the time. I'm holding out for a Z28 model, big on performance, light on extras.

I'm glad the halo headlights, MP3 connects, fancy spoilers, power seats, sunroofs, convertible tops, leather interior, HUDs and such are there for those that desire such features.

None of those features are appealing to me though. I love the Camaro, its design and its performance, those are the only things I want or would have use for. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a track pack Z28 model to come along in the next year or so. That's the only model that I believe could entice me to trade my LS in, or if possible, buy a second Camaro.

First of all, you have a very unique original car. So I wouldn't screw it up to be something different. Trading a fairly new car is a real money loser.

I would wait on the Z28 that will be another very special car. It may be a couple of years, but then your car won't depreciate as fast over the next 2 years. You never know with no more synergy green your car may actually swing the other way in value.

GM has to be loving it that many of you V6s are trading up to SSs knowing full well that your appetite will never surfice. How many Z28s buyers are going to be SSs owners trading up?

I would not do any mods if you have any inkling of trading the car because that will be throwing the money away. personally if it were going to be a DD I would keep the 6 if you have expendable income to have this as a fun toy for weekends then trade it. although i think 400 plus hp for street use is really overkill when the looks of the vehicle are essentially the same. my car is debadged and i catch people trying to figure out if it is a 6 or an 8 all the time. i have had people roll the window down just to ask me because they simply cannot tell. i also dont go trying to race anyone because it is illegal. so for me an SS would really be a waste of money and a drain on my wallet. but that is me

nope, you can trade in whenever. if you owe more than it's worth, the money will roll over into the new car.

My 2ltrs has 14500 and is 16 months old. I can get maybe 21-22 for it tops. Oh and to money loss? To give you an idea, in my case A-Z loss if I keep the car 10 years, which I am, trade up will cost $30000. Weather I trade now or 4-5 years from now.Gas extra, mods, hit on the car and the higher ss cost all have to factor in. Basically you have to buy whay you want first, this trade up stuff will always be a loser unless you do it right away but still only less of a loser.

I traded up from a 2010 2LT/RS to a new 2011 2SS/RS a few weeks ago. I'd highly reccomend you do the same! If you are already itching for the V8, that thought is not going to go away. I tried my best for a year to supress it, but I gave in.

My 2010 2LT/RS had 21,000 miles. I got $21k for the trade in, and I owed about $14,800 on it. So I was able to add the difference to my down payment. All in all, you loose the depreciation on the V6, but ultimately, you end up with the car you want. Personally, with an extra $5k down, I only ended up paying $500/month. I was paying $424 for the 2LT/RS.

DO IT! You only live once!!
