Yesterday while shopping for a new Camaro I was told by someone who has a connection with Chevrolet headquarters that the 2010 Camaro SS has an official 1/4-mile time of 13.2 seconds @ 109 mph. This is not surprising; what is surprising is this time was clocked on the automatic version using the variable cylinder management engine. The Camaro with the 422 hp 6-speed manual is supposed to be a tick or two slower than the less-powerful V8 automatic.

Is this old news? Did anyone else hear this "official 1/4 mile time" for the A6 Automatic?
That is about what i would think the car would do in their test. I would be interested in the MPG also

Now my 05 M6 (stick) GTO, had terrible wheel hop issues. But drag radials reduced the wheel hop quite a bit. But my first trip to the track (bone stock), I had such terrible wheel hop I had to leave the Traction Control on just to get off the line without a lot of hop. The wheel hop was real bad.
oh, shoot, I forgot you had an A4. and yeah, the auto has that nice ability to transfer some of the shock back thru the driveline where it gets absorbed by the trans fluid.

why would you bet on Manuel?

and 3.73s can go in the auto as well. paired with the 1st gear ratio of over 4:1, it should make some interesting 60fts.

Nothing has been proven in a head to head comparison between the 2 cars that any of us has actually seen. Its been said that the auto will be faster, then that that was a mistake and the manual is actually faster, and back again to auto is faster.
If the auto is faster great!! If the manual is faster, great!!!! What we do know is there can only be one GM should know by now what are their best times, I wonder why we can't get that info at this point.. It's not like people will switch their orders last month for one or the other based on the news...

It better be mid to high 12's. My pretty much stock 02 SS (DR's and street tune) did a 13.28 and that was my first time ever at a track. If there was an experienced driver in my car I'm sure it would have been a 12.9 or 13.0. I know the fifth gen is heavier, but I would think that 80 more fly hp would make it a little faster.

Very true.. but also keep in mind that was on DR's.. so put some DR's on a 5th gen and I can see Mid 12's being possible stock.

well i'd imagine a 12.9 is possible running the 3:45s with a really good driver. but he's gotta be really good.
