Excellent articles. Again, science and actual physics quoted...not "opinions because I think so".

I urge anyone not understanding polished vs. rough or textured to click on the link and read. Intelligence and research always come out looking better than "because I think it should".

Scourage has done his homework.

Also, I know of no CAI units that have smooth polished insides.....all I have seen are unfinished inside.

Guys I think this thread got way sidetracked. We're talking about a throttle body here that has a poor design from the factory. We re-shape the bowl of the tb to allow the air to be more efficient entering it.. thats it..
How you go about doing it is your choice..

head technology doesnt apply to the throttle body

Hey if anyone thinks that all the air rushing into a throttle body, which has a surface area that is reshaped of about 1.5" long is affected by a different finish....more power to you. Also, just because a person has been doing something for 25 years doesn't mean anything except you've been doing it a long time. Take car manufacturers for example: they have been building cars for way longer than 25 years and still can't make a totally trouble free vehicle. Hell, even Honda...which is considered ons if the best, still has defects in their brand new cars. I know this from working at a Honda dealership. I couldnt tell you how many engines we put in 06 and up civics. So saying you have been doing something for a long time doesn't hold much water.

I'm going to drop from this thread. Its a moot point as we are putting our TB on the posters car and will record before and after for all to see.
Ya'll play nice

Yea be too. Arguing over .5 hp is silly. You can gain 5hp heating up the fluids in the trans, rear end and engine. So who cares? They make a nice difference in throttle response which you can feel and that's all that matters. All this surface tension, polishing, Cnc spiral cut and all that jazz is splitting hairs. Later

Why not send the TB to Tx Speed to test side by side with all the others? That should show the real gains.

Oh, and I measure 3.5" further than many head ports......we must be talking 2 different throttle bodies. I have never seen one 1.5" long...and were talking 8-12 RWHP, not .5

Your right. The "swirl" is going to break the surface tension on air.

CC Performance is setting me up to do my own comparison on an area wide well respected shop that is willing to assist in an unbiased test. CC wont even be present at the time. We will have numbers that will answer my questions and satisfy me. I will post them and I am positive that all will not be satisfied. The shop that will be used is so well respected that they are probably booked out for a month and a half or two. But I feel that I will be satisfied in the end and am willing to wait. More to follow but please feel free to continue so we may learn that we don't know all the facts and all we know may not be fact.

Since you already know in advance that no matter how it turns out some are going to criticize you are covered. Had I kept my stock TB, I'd send you a VMax to try at the same time.

Bottom line, just enjoy the experience.

If you are keeping everything in the open perhaps SC2150 may be willing to work something out. If it were my company and a product I had total confidence in, I'd have a rental available for reasons just like this. I guess in the case of SC2150 he has a money back guarantee so there is no risk. However, some may feel more comfortable with a rental to test or a rent with option to buy.

Texas Speed is doing testing on several competing TB's all hand ported except the VMax. It will be on their engine dyno with no variables such as a chassis dyno may have in a non climate controlled situation. For a fair test this to me would be the best comparison. Side by side.

I think thats what he was saying. Hes giving them one just theirs is not a hand ported unit. Its a CNC'ed unit instead.
