Anyone ever tore down an engine after using AMSOIL for a while? If so what was is like? Nice and clean or gunked up?

When you used it...How did you like it to what you use now? Can you tell any difference between oil changes?

Thanks for your time.
I didn't do any actual testing. I did try a lot of different oils in my Impala SS and the one that really stood out was Royal Purple. I did a lot of scanning and monitoring with that car. The day after putting RP in, I noticed my operating engine temps stayed lower than normal and gas mileage when up 3 mpg (hiway). I make the same 60 mile round trip each day and the weather was nearly identical. I was quite impressed. But a couple thousand miles after switching to RP, I switch to a different aftermarket cam. The damage on the cam lobes was excessive. Even the engine builder, familar with my car said he'd not seen anything like that. I highly doubt it was the oil, but none the less, I've been afraid to go back.

From strictly an end user point of view, Amsoil it's just oil to me.

I sell Amsoil as the synthetic of choice at my shop, but I could choose whatever I want. Before I sold it, I used it and what got me to keep it was the automatic fluid. In my 95 Tahoe which still has its original 4L60E, I was dropping the pan every 30K to inspect for clutch material in the pan. The pan was so clean you couldn't see any change when I dragged my finger across the bottom of the pan. I am not abusive to this vehicle, nor does it tow heavy loads, but that year had a high failure rate for GM and I have to think Amsoil made the difference.

Used to use it in a pro stock dirt tracker.... started using it there because the distributor gave us all the products and in turn we plastered his decals all over the car. After seeing a decrease in bearing wear and a dramatic temperature decrease in the rear end I was sold.

I use it in my sport bike..it revs to over 16k rpm..I just did a valve adjustment on it and the inside of the motor looked brand new..I don't use it in my fifth gen but I did use it quite a bit in my 4th gen and when I did the cam swap at 125k miles everything looked really clean..so it def. Didn't hurt running it. When I change my diff. Fluid I plan on using amsoil

I had no idea Amsoil was that good or I would have tried it long ago

The feedback that I am getting seems to keep getting better and better.

Thanks to you both for the feedback.

Used in my 04 Mustang Cobra's Transmission, before change over to Amsoil no smell, after changeover a nasty gear oil like smell. No leaks, drips, overflow found, just the smell.

I am pretty anal about my cars and I am going to run it in my SS when the time comes for my first oil change.
IMO 75% of the dealers are idiots since they just cut and paste from the dealer info pages on the Amsoil website. The other 25% are pretty decent and actually have some common sense knowledge and do their research. The only investment you have to make in becoming an independent dealer is paying a yearly membership or you can by a five year license at a lesser cost. You do not have to maintain a stock of products either. A lot of dealers are in it for the money and rude. I'm sure a lot of you have seen this on the forums in the past. You can in fact make a good chunk of change bieng a dealer, especially if you get people to sign up under you. The prices that dealers pay are the exact same prices any of us can get if you purchase the preferred customer membership. If you do buy on your own, make sure you go the actual amsoil website. If you just go to some random joe shmoe's website you are lining his/her pockets.

Get your oil analyzed. It will tell you everything you need to know. I have an analysis kit already waiting for when the oil gets changed.

Also, if you are going to run a fancy oil, change it every 7K-10K miles. The oils will most likely last up to 15K miles but I tend not to push my oils.
Many oils will last the 15k miles. There is only one filter I would trust that distance and that is the Amsoil nanofiber filter.

using Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil because it has been proven time and time
again that Mobil 1 is a high quality synthetic motor oil. Also Mobil 1 synthetic
motor oil is endorsed and highly recommended by GM engineering. They recommend
it because it works very well in all GM vehicles. The most important part is it is
available in most of all automotive stores and alot of stores like Walmart or
Sam's Club etc.
Actually it is very easy to get Amsoil. It can be shipped direct to your doorstep. There is a distribution plant in Dallas, so I can just run and pick it up to save on shipping. Either way, their shipping prices are actually not bad.

I use Amsoil long life 75w-90 in my truck. Just changed it out after putting 100,000 miles on the fluid. Came out slightly darker than the new going in. Differential looked great inside. My truck does hold 4qts though. I would definitely run the Amsoil 75w-90 Severe Gear in the Camaro though since it only holds a little over a quart.

How long was it in there? The smell usually goes away after some miles are put on it.
