Sorry for the BS man... that's just rediculous!!

Actually . . . I would not want chains of any kind scraping against my wheels or underbody or any other part of the car, at all, unless it's 100% necessary only on the underbody. Straps hold up just fine when done right.

There are points on the frame designed for locking the car down. They don't scrape against any part of the car.. Straps slip and stretch, chains wont. But if you want your 2 tons of Muscle held down with straps after all that they put you through then more power to ya..

I never use chains when I trailer a car. I have very nice straps that are made for strapping a car down to a trailer. Do you have pics of the points on the frame that you mentioned?

In the U.S. we have something called AAA.

I was going to say you should join it and let THEM tow you, but I don't think they have AAA in Canada...unless I am mistaken.

Car was all fixed by 11AM yesterday.
Everything was covered by GM, except they only covered $100 of the $215 tow.
GM would only cover $100, because the dealership called the tow company they use. They did this because GM tried 2 times to get my car towed and failed. 4 hours later, GM still didn't know when they could get my car picked up. So the dealer call for the tow.
After all that happened on that Friday. I thought at least GM would cover my tow. I am disappointed they didn't and they still haven't call me.
It's kinda like, lets give him $100(for the tow) and he will go away.

Good new is my baby's all fixed.
Thanks to all a Wallace Chevrolet. Thanks for keeping me calm and doing your best. They treated my car like it was in my garage.

Send a message via Yahoo to Orange5thGen
Check your insurance they may reimburse you for the tow too? Mine does well 100.00 anyway.

I'm not saying you cant... because there are certain applications where it would be more advantageous to use straps. But that hack job of a strap down is terrible in those pics...

And yes I'm serious. The points where straps would be attached would be the same as chains? Your scared of chains near your car? Garage queen I take it???

Either way can be correct of done right but that hack job above is just horrendous!! yikes!!!

I wouldn't want chains used if that were my brand new Camaro....
I've never seen chains used on a dyno either, only straps. I'd venture to say that if straps work on a dyno, they'll work on a flatbed.

FYI, tow straps don't stretch unless they've been used for quite some time. They won't stretch while the car is in transit though. Hook one end of a tow strap around a healthy tree and the other end around your rear axle and see how far that strap stretches...

Brand new or 20 years old, there are notches in the frame designed for hooking the chains to... On a dyno you are dealing with holding a car in a straight line, but when that 2 tons is lifted up in the air on a flat bed where it sways back and forth I'll take chains!!

There was 2 chairs that dragged my car up the ramp. These still had tension on them. Then the 2 straps per wheel.
I thought he did a great job. He even used ramps so it wouldn't scrape.

Isn't that basically the same concept on a flatbed, to keep it straight?

though....

Glad to see your dealer was able to get you taken care of Dingo. Could you send me your case number so I can look it over? Thank you.
