.....likely there are more ex-Mustang owners who got their warranty voided due to mods who traded in their Mustangs for Camaro. modding is good business but bad for your wallet.

I hate to lose a Camaro owner, but He should have known what he was doing when he modded the car, and I'm sure Ford would do the same to him.
I'll bet he doesn't do that to the Ford. But if he does, he knows what he'll get.

Wow. Does he think Ford won't do the same thing?

Sounds like he was just looking for an excuse to trade it in. Can't blame him though if he isn't happy with it; just sounded weird that the tune thing was his reasoning to buy a Stang.

Those darn aftermarket calibrations are always causing oil leaks. Something within the coding causing microwave signals that rapidly deteriorate the engine gaskets. That's gotta be it, cause we know they would follow the law properly, and only deny warranty if the modification was the cause of the failure.

I guess they have more than enough customers and can afford to stab their performance car enthusiasts in the back.

Yea I'm pretty sure he could have fought that one and won. The tune may void your warranty of electronics but if it can't be proven that it was directly linked to the leak then it is still covered by law( the one place the law protects us car enthusiasts for a change).

The tech that did this should go to some kind of car hell for doing this. It takes a certain kind of tech to take the time to send gm a picture of the gm calibration data because he didn't want to fix an oil leak for warranty pay.

Sorry, but they can tell if there has been any changes done to the ECM and still void your warranty.

Oh no I know that there is a flash counter and that they are aware whether I have tuned or not. It's one of those things that doesn't really make a difference, but it makes me feel better.

So what does the dealer do with your tuned car if you trade it in? It will always show how many times it was flashed when they re-sell it or do they have a secret way to reset it to zero?? How would they next buyer get a warranty?

Ford is doing the same thing. Spend some time in the SVT forum and you will hear the same stories. If he felt the urge to modify the Camaro, he will feel the urge to do the same to the 5.0. This really is nothing new,.
