******** Front Firing Box Pics

Just finished my ******** install. When I was researching I could not find that many pics with the front firing box installed. Here is mine, feel free to add yours!

******** Front Firing Dual 12" Box
Kicker DX1000.1 Mono Amp
Kicker CompVR 12" 4ohm Subs (wired parallel)
JL Audio XD400/4 (Factory Replacement)
******** Amp Mounting Board & Plug & Play Harnesses

I have the BA system with the stock speakers still in place (for now) & factory head unit. The JL amp (along with tweaking the crossovers) really does improve their sound. With the front firing box, my trunk does not rattle and I have no Dynamat installed! My highest recommendations for ********, box fits great with plenty of trunk space and can still access the battery area. The amp replacement was a breeze with the plug & play harnesses!

This is the thread I have been looking for. I want to install front firing woofers also, but everyone is trying to talk me out of it. I don't like trunk rattle either. I like my bass tight not booming and loose. Please tell me what made you go with front firing and is the bass tight with the seat up.

So have you had anyone in the rear seats yet? How do they like it?

Nice. Very nice. Looks like I need to desing and amp mount for the rear of the box since the front firing boxes are becoming more popular.

I agree, or maybe design the box to have a cutout on top for the amp and have plexy glass in the rear with the colored vinyl trim on the outside so you can see the magnets and cones? Just a thought...

I have always preferred front firing because I like to feel the bass hit. I listen mainly to rock so I don't need people to hear my trunk thumping miles away. I have the remote bass adjustment knob for the subs, and from Metallica to Black Eyed Peas I can make it thump mild, or hard enough to blur your vision!

I took awhile to get everything balanced. The JL amp has a set of pass through preouts that I connected the RCA's for the sub amp to. I was able to knock the bass settings on the radio down to 0. The odd thing is that the bass level on the head unit still affects the tone of the subs. I may be wrong but I am guessing that with using the ******** harness, it acts differently than an aftermarket head unit with preouts on it?

Have not put anybody back there yet. Nice thing about the remote adjustment is you can easily turn just the subs up or down.

Did you just mount the amp on the back of the box? Is there any problems with doing that?

I'm going to do this myself over the next day or two and am looking for a good place to put the amp driving the subs.

Yeah, that's what I did. No problem mounting the amp to the back of the box. It was easier to do after getting it in the trunk because of how tight the fit is (you can mount the subs in first though). It also lined up nicely to just make a slit in the carpet to run the power & ground straight to the battery. I ran the RCA's along the top of the rear deck to keep them as far away from the power cable as possible.

Good Luck!
