6.0L Engine Swap
i was thinking about dropping a 6.0 Vortec, along with the 4L80E tranny, into my '93 Chevy. wondering what you guys have to say about it. heres the truck. i think it would make a really mean combo. havent really looked for a donor truck yet because i currently dont have the funds.

By all means. AND get 19 MPG on the highway with the right tune.
It is a pretty easy conversion also. Everything you need is available for decent prices. |

the plan is to buy a truck that has maybe been wrecked and take the engine and tranny out and drop it in this truck. my dad says some fabrication will probably be necessary.

Probably take more work than you think. I'm pretty sure the Gen II/III/IV Chevy Small Blocks have different mount points than the Gen I.

Why the vortec? We're dropping a 4.8 LS into a 79 z28... got the complete engine for $500 and put a cam into it... found a 4l60e for cheap as well... I think its a great idea..
There are engine mount kits out there for old muscle cars doing an Ls conversion, not sure about trucks but I'm sure it can be done easy enough |

Your L31 should get roughly the power to weight ratio as the last 454 (L21) that saw Silverado duty.

That's what makes them great for forced induction also. Actually I believe you now have the choice between an iron or aluminum block for Vortech engines.

YOu thinking of going with the LQ9? Pretty sure those iron blocks are great for 20+ psi of boost!

Yea in all honesty, the amount of money and work going into the 454 would be pointless when I could just use less money to purchase a built or crate 5.3/6.0 My 350 5.7 only has 160k easy miles on it tho so untill I Fry it or find an awesome deal on an engine/tranny, most of my money will be dumped into the camaro.

i wont be doing any forced induction or really many bolt-ons at all. the 350 that came in this truck is just a bit of a slouch and ive driven a truck with the 6.0 and was hooked as soon as i drove it.
