Decided to give this a shot. I used the orange Elmers paint pen. I saw some chose the neon orange, but I went with the regular. I still need to do the steering wheel and the stitching on the cloth areas. Any tips on doing these? I did a few on the steering wheel, but I wasn't doing great.

I bought a ultra fine elmer's painters pen to do the cloth areas. This site has them.

http://www.markersupply.com/elmerspainters.html

Their ship is fast and VERY reasonable too.

I did mine in blue and they have the blue ultrafine on sale.

You could just as easily use the "fine."

When I did mine, I found that the ink wiped off the cloth if you were careful and wiped it quickly. I had no problems with the cloth area.

This is a pretty cool mod, I would do it but I prefer my grey stitching!!

I might suggest the following product to those that would like to have a more permanent solution.

Jaquard Textile Paint mixed with their airfix catalyst. There are 30 colors that can be mixed to make a custom color. Plus with the catalyst there is no need to set the paint with heat, it keeps the stitching flexible and is uv protected.

If you don't want to use a paint brush to apply it you can buy paint pen barrels and use it.

Will look into this- mine keeps fading. I have to reapply every few months....

dyed stitching on black sport cloth

ok, so after seeing this thread & all the questions about doing the sport cloth, I gave it a try. I spent $6 for 3 fine tip fabric dye pens at Hobby Lobby

I used one for the back seat & shifter boot, & one for each front seat...none ran out, but I wanted fresh tips...I did my best to stay on the stitching & keep off the cloth...I would do about 6" then blot with a dry cotton cloth (old sock)...DO NOT RUB, it can smear the dye into the cloth around the stitches...here is a pic of the back seat with half done

and here are pics of the finished product

& here is a close up shot...you can see a little bit of dye on the black, but from more than about a foot away, it's impossible to see

all told, it took me about 2 hours to do it all

That really looks great, cntryman77. I'm not sure I would have been brave enough to try it on the cloth interior. But, it looks really good!

I just started mine tonight and its turning out pretty good. I'm using the Elmer's Painters pens. I'll post some pics when I'm finished.

This is how mine should turn out. Did you use Elmer's?

I want to do the blue on my leather, but I haven't been able to find a picture with it done to the gray leather seats. Any thoughts on how this would look? Thanks!

Yes. I used Elmers Painters. If you notice any stray marks on the leather the next day, I was able to get them off with Adam's Leather Cleaner.
