Very true, but I'm a die hard GM guy. Brand loyal as it comes. There isn't a nicer GM muscle(V8) car out there. Could never see myself in a Lexus, BMW, or MB.

This is my 7th Camaro. The other 6 were 1st and 2nd Generation Camaros, so I personally drove the legends. I see you are relatively new to the forum and maybe don't have a Gen5 Camaro. The point is beyond the intro of the Gen5 Camaro, recent Mustang and Challenger; power was always compared to the 60s and 70s. So I guess we must be saying Technology took a nap for 30 + years. Everyone that OWNS a Gen5 V6 or V8 very well knows this a pony car revival. They are taking these cars and making them their own. The money spend on mods has to be record year.

It is simply human nature to feel superior to others. Please note that what I am going to say next is based on my own personal feelings having grown up around classic muscle cars and having owned/raced several of them.

The Camaro (along with the Challenger and Mustang) are remembered from the glorious days gone past as loud, powerful V8 cars. Yes, the 1969 350 Camaro was cool..but even GM advertised saying that the 396 SS was much cooler. The 1969 Mustang with a 302 or 351 was cool, but a 390 Mustang was waaaay cooler. A 1970 Challenger with a 380 was cool, but obviously a 426 Hemi or 440 Six-Pack car was more bad ass. People dont even really pay much attention to the I6 or slant Six versions of any of those cars.

There is always going to be the "cooler" "more bad ass" car. In automotive ethos and standards..the SS with the LS3 (or L99) is cooler and much more the traditional muscle car than the V6...period. That is not saying the V6 isnt powerful (it is) or cool (totally cool) but it isnt equal to the SS.

For me fast and badass is z06 and cts-v and gt500.

No doubt about all of this, the vehicle IS superior... but it doesn't give you the right to act superior and talk down to V6 owners as if the 23 000$ they spent might as well have been spent on a cardboard mansion.

It's still an amazing looking car and it's got plenty of zip for what they were willing to spend... I frankly don't see any other car on the market I'd rather buy for 23k...

But going back to old school cars, I think I'd trade in my 2SS/RS for a '70 Chevelle SS454 if I could find the one. God those things were brutal.

Dude...13 second street cars ARE fast.

A college classmate of mine has a 1970 Plymouth GTX with a 440 Six Pack, and it is a seriously fast car. It runs in the Mid-13's on street tires.

When you have a car like the Camaro that can go to Friday night drags, on street tires, burn down a quarter mile in 13 seconds, trap at 110 mph and then drive home like a perfectly mild mannered family car? Thats epic and would have been utterly unbelievable in 1969.

The fact is we're spoiled today with these cars. Maybe I'm just a fuddy duddy..but I very much remember a time when a car that ran 13 seconds flat stock was a street demon that made headlines on all the auto rags.

Now 13 stock is slow? Wow.
