Pretty wild.

Sorry if this is a duplicte post. I hadn't seen the jump, only heard it was going to happen.

I watched the show after the race about the "Hot Wheels" secret division on tv. It looked fake to me but in good taste and fun!! But the jump at Indy, I think was real. During the race the helicopter would get the ramp in the shot every once in a while.

Was there anyone there that can vouch for if it was real or not?

When you first hear '300 foot jump' it doesn't sound that far until you actually compare it to things like a football field.

I wonder what they used for shocks in that thing. I know those desert racers can have some pretty wild setups, but surely they'd have to upgrade for this stunt.

Saw it on videos, but got to see the jump track in person while at the track. It's quite impressive...

The shocks are King, i bet they are the 4" bore, they call them king kongs, they have 2 per side, 1 coilover and 1 bypass. bad a$$ suspension those trophy trucks have, the landing reminds me of this jump

Was there as well in J stand near 4th turn. I was a teeny little bit disappointed as I expected him to nail the throttle on the way down the ramp, he coasted down the ramp and hit the throttle at the bottom. HOWEVER, probably a good thing he did. In the video you can see he darn near overshot the ramp, if that happens it can get ugly!!!!!
Oh and some of those shots were done with a big RC helicopter with a camera mounted on it. Looked to have a rotor span of 5 or 6 feet.

Here is one of many youtube videos (not mine BTW). You can see the RC helicopter to the left, and better see just how far down the ramp he landed.
