Sound System Mods - Speakers, Deck, Amps, Etc..

I'm getting a 2012 SS the second my local dealer starts to take orders and i've always ripped out the sound system in every new car i've had with the exception of the 2011 caddy i bought because it's near impossible to do in newer cars without destroying the dash.
What you're left with in terms of options is swapping out speakers and adding an amp or two, but you're still feeding off a system which was tuned for the speakers your car came with.

Any ideas or anybody that's done some serious audio work?
I hate stock systems, even the best on the market doesn't compare to what i've put into my previous cars for $3000 to $4000.

Most seem to agree that the head unit (at least with the BA system) is an ok unit, the amps and speakers suck though. ******** has a harness you can buy to give you all of the pre-amp outs to custom build your system with. I like the idea of leaving the stock head unit, gives thieves one fewer reason to screw with your car.

if you've done $3,000 systems $4,000 in any car they will blow away stock anything.
Do it again! You will love the end results.

start with the Metra kit and a new head unit... from there the world is your oyster.

(or you can wait for the Alpine kit that only works with Alpine heads, its supposed to be out in March, April, May, and now I think June/July - eventually it will be out)

Not sure what brand you fancy But I'm in absolute AWE with my Double Din Pioneer AVIC 120BT. My husband did all the work to my camaro. He's MECP Master Certified and honestly i don't think i heard him curse and swear as much as he has in the camaro. Apparently its a pain the a%@ and he's been doing it for 8 Years, its mostly the way the Dash is put together and how all the new car are going international with wiring.

The Alpine kit is starting to feel like the elusive Sasquatch. Ive seen pictures of it, but not sure it really exists.

Downside on the Pioneer controls that I see is that your visibility of the gauge cluster is now blocked or at least, appear to be.

The controls are now all below the screen.

My friend owns a stereo shop and he said he could order it now. He showed me pic's of it in there catalog. All of the controls are touch screen, heater, seat heaters everything. Alpine helped chevy do there controls so they have all of the info on them.

Wouldn't have Boston Acoustics done this considering it's a BA branded entertainment system?
