GM has all kinds of plans, none of which the internet is reliable for predicting correctly. But that usually makes for interesting threads like this one could be.
Do a search OPP, you'll see lots of speculation on future Camaro content.

lol. I call them "archaic" because thats how they are commonly referred to by OHC fanboys. Vtec yo! in all seriousness tho, the pushrod design has been proven time and time again. there's a reason we got the LS1 over the LT5....

You never know what GM will do. When we bought Solstices, we heard it was a long term car. We know what happened to them, and the SSR. You just can't trust GM to give long-term production or support after production ends. It seems to be the whim of the day there.

Two vehicles GM should have found a way to rebadge and continue selling are the G8 and the Solstice/Sky. My wife was waiting on a coupe version of the Solstice (she has a convertible already) and a good bit of friends and family that refuse to buy used that want a GM V8, RWD car with 4 doors under $60k. Some have settled for Chrysler 300s and Dodge Chargers, a few were fortunate enough to afford CTS-Vs... GM is missing a market that is allowing Chrysler/Fiat to gain ground :(

So they're toying with the idea of using something a little bigger than, and with forced induction, what Formula 1's been using since 2006? As in, the motorsport where they have to invent rules to slow the cars down because they keep finding ways to make them faster and faster in spite of the stringent restrictions?
![]() I've told folks I've talked to IRL that I would love to see a car manufacturer develop for their consumer products the way that motorbike manufacturers do with MotoGP. If GM could use F1 as the hotbed to test either a new Corvette engine, or after 2013 an engine for one of their other vehicles, and those engines were also helping GM meet CAFE regulations and keep the larger displacement engines as well, who stands to lose?

I believe most people at GM would love to see additional RWD entries...but there's this thing called CAFE -- -- and thus, I suggest that you write to your representatives in Washington, D.C. and tell them that 60 MPG in 2021 is ridiculous and that you'll vote them out of office.......... (the current standard is 35.5 mpg for 2016-- including Suburbans and Pickups and such.....)

That Solstice shoulda had a V8!
There's a crew modifying them... outfitting 'em with LS-3s, LS-7s, LS-As, etc... Great design... a real American roadster... but a four cylinder?? ![]() I never respected it because of that.

I'm hoping for a next gen Eco-tech I4 turbo for a base engine and a direct injected V8. I'll need a replacement DD in 3 or 4 years so the timing would be perfect.

You have a good point there. Not everybody can afford performance cars. The percentage of performance cars that are out there is so small that it doesn't make a damn difference in the carbon footprint of the entire population. Plus the price people pay for performance cars boosts the economy, at least a little bit.

Ask Number 3 about his Sky RL. I'd bet it could keep up with a few V6 Camaros. Also, if I had a nickel for every C7 rumor that I've heard, I'd own a ZR1 by now.

People were referring to corvettes as having large heavy iron blocks. Others saying that they are gas guzzlers even though their EPA estimates are higher than the direct competition. Someone even commented that it was about time GM change the engine since they've been using the same one since the 50s. Others stated that corvettes handle like, and I quote, "bricks." So many fanboys that don't know anything about even the corvettes since the C5 generation. One guy was talking about how he will stick with his S2000 because it can hit 155 mph, gets good gas mileage, and still runs even though it was 11 years old unlike any 11 year old GM product. I know it's not the fasted car by any means, but I have a one owner 1995 Z28 sitting in my driveway that hits 155 mph, has the same gas mileage rating as an S2000 (with more power and torque), and it is a 16 year old car that runs the same as it did from the dealer lot and will still chirp a brand new set of tires when shifting into 2nd gear. |
