Question Next gen GT500?

http://www.leftlanenews.com/ford-she...00-future.html

A twin turbo 5.0 with 600+ hp sounds pretty nice!

2013 Shelby GT500 To Be Twin TurboCharged

http://www.leftlanenews.com/ford-she...00-future.html

This article says they found this Shelby GT500 testing around the Nurburgring in Germany. Sounds familiar to the ZL1's testing. Hope GM responds and owns them the following year!

Thanks for the link Demon..

Me and others have been saying this all along. But folks insist on a stroked/bored 5.4 to 5.8L..

Here's the article if u don't want to follow the link..

"Ford is expected to unleash a new Shelby GT500 around 2013 and various reports have suggested anything from a 5.8-liter supercharged V8 to a twin-turbocharged version of the company’s new 5.0-liter V8.

Today, our spies managed to capture a current-gen GT500 testing at the famed Nurburgring that suggest a turbocharged unit could ultimately find its way under the hood of the next Shelby GT500. If you look closely, you will notice the addition of what appears to be an extended intercooler in the vehicle’s left foglamp housing rather than the lamp itself.
By contrast, the opposite side features a simple tape coverup, likely intended to give the appearance of the same darkened area created by the removal of the bulb and housing for the left side. Furthermore, it appears additional cooling lines – possibly an extension of an intercooler system – are visible in the upper grille area.
Given the continual push toward more fuel-efficient vehicles due to rising fuel prices and more stringent CAFE standards, it makes sense that Ford and Shelby would opt for a presumably more efficient 5.0-liter V8 than a traditionally supercharged large displacement V8. "

I'll post a couple pics.. Guess this answers the previous crap on that hideous scoop lol..

Sure would be an interesting combination, but lets put it into a SVT Cobra instead of a Shelby GT500.

I agree with u on that Newmoon.. Always liked the SVT tag on them better.. I know Shelby has a very strong following, but after the 03/04 terminators I just love the SVT's that much more.

SVT makes it a Ford, Shelby GT 500 makes it a Shelby, I like Ford better

That'd be pretty sick, honestly. I'm not really a turbo guy, but that sounds like some technology to take notice of! Interesting to see it at the 'Ring, though.

The beauty of twin turbo is more power but still good CAFE numbers. Not to mention tune-ability.

win - win
