Go stand behind a stock Mustang GT and look really hard at the backend of the car, think about paying for that back end. Then go buy the SS, LOL. No all kidding aside the GT is a nice car, possibly a tad quicker than a SS (stick vs stick, manual vs manual) the GT might handle a bit better as well. IMO I like the looks of the SS more, I prefer the interior of the SS. I was a Ford guy and really wanted to like/love the 5.0 but just couldn't. I'm hoping that in 2013-2014 Ford brings back the SVT Cobra with a new body style.

So my problem is a Camaro SS or a Mustang GT? Honest opinions please!

NOT trying to start WWIII. Just if given a choice would you purchase a Camaro agian?
I passed on a 2012 Shelby they had at the dealer
where I bought my 010 SS/RS [they are also Chevy dealer] for insurance
reasons 2,800 a year, sticker price 60k on the Shelby.
I saw a sold GT premium Grabber blue with the appearance package
that includes hood scoop, quarter window louvers, side scoops,
black rear panel and spoiler. It has the sport interior black with blue stripe and flat black racing stripes from front bumper to rear.
There are a few expensive items Ford charges for that are included in the Camaro
Brembo's on all four wheels Camaro front only on Mustang [1600.00] HID lights, [950.00] heated seats[695.00 with security pkg], 20" wheels
It's a six speed manual 5.0 they are also a Roush dealer and the car they sold
had Roush axle backs I requested them to be installed on mine when I saw the customer disclosure there was a dealer installed option of 2k added
that didn't last long he said the mufflers cost 9 hundred and 2 hours labor
I can get the mufflers for 389.00 right from Roush and about 1 hour to install,
no pipe cutting on the Ford ,they tried!
The deal was unbelievable 30,500 trade with a 6,900 difference, tax and tags
and document fees included.
I test drove a Roush stage 3 with a 3:73 gear what a difference that makes
over the 3:47 in my SS so I ordered that for an added 395
it adds about 500 rpm at any speed over the SS
I'm not knocking my SS just time for a change
It will be here in about 3 months

Some how I just don't get that feeling with the new 5.0.

I've seen 2 so far since they've been out.

As a matter of fact I see more "F" and "P" and even "L" cars than the 5.0.

Well, it's not about making sense here apparently. Everyone talks about how the camaro has been outselling the mustang constantly, but then insist that there are way more 5.0s running around than fifth gens. . . uuuuuuuhhhh?

1/13. I MIGHT give you 12 or 11 for not including yourself and the OP. Still nowhere near 20% and only one mustang owner. Hardly the overwhelming amount of mustang owners in the thread like you were suggesting.

Maybe you should take your own advice
It APPEARED that MikeSS owned a Mustang. Despite my mistake, you were still trying to be an ass, since 2/11 is a lot f'n closer to 20%.

1/11.

I apologize if I came off as an ass, but it's truly obnoxious the level of talk we have about the mustang owners. In reality, there are really not that many here and the only reason there is a significant detraction from discussion about the camaro is because of people continually complaining about how many mustang owners and mustang threads by mustang owners there are. . . but the majority of the mustang threads are by camaro owners and there are only 4-5 mustang owners running around, especially after the recent banning spree.

It's my first comment on the matter, and there are alot of "other" car owners on this board that are allowed to troll and are extremely active posters. Of course, there are far more posters on this board that either own or like the new Camaro and don't have a CLUE about cars in general...And honestly just say some really ignorant feces. This place is as bad as almost any "newbie" car forum I've been apart of...S10 forums, Toyota Forums....Etc.

Simple answer: Whichever one you like better is the better car.

I really wanted to like the Mustang, but I'm just a chevy and Camaro guy at heart. Plus, I thought that the Camaro was priced better with the Brembos included on all 4 wheels rather than just the front for extra cash on the Mustang.

The Mustang does perform slightly better, but by slightly, I mean slightly. I love how people like to act as though its comparing a Mac truck to a Bugatti, but in reality, the differences are so small you won't really know. Its not like one of them really stands out, like getting 5mpg better, or a full second in the 1/4 or whatever.

I used to go through this with crotch rocket guys always debating between which was the best bike and my advice was always the same: sit on them and look at them, whichever one feels and looks the best to you is the better one, because the comfort and cosmetic differences are thousands of times more noticeable than the performance differences.

The other day I took a 40 mile round trip drive, and counted 8 new Camaros. Two were SS's. I spotted 0 2010+ Mustangs. I've only seen one 5.0 so far and only a handful of V6's. I still haven't spotted a GT500. I'm surprised by the lack of new Mustangs I see around here compared to Camaros, since the sales numbers aren't that far apart.

*btw, I'm in far west suburban Chicago.

Ive seen more SS the 5.0s but both seem like very great cars. Have u considered the SRT8? Facts are Facts so if u want the better performer get the 5.0. When it comes to opinions the Camaro looks better. But you really shouldnt be asking others what u want... go with what you like, afterall you'll be the one driving it (and paying for it).

U would think that the new mustangs would move like Hot Cakes.

V6 one gets 30/31MPGs on the freeway with 300HP.

The 5.0 ain't that shabby at the mid 20's in MPGs.

The new 5.0 is about dead even (with solid axle) with the M3 in all the performance tests. and it does that at about the price of V6 stang.

I'm wondering if Ford screwed themselves by introducing 300HP on a Mustang V6. Something tells me that most people that drive mustangs have a tight budget, but also want a some performance. it looks like 300HP on the V6 was enough and that the 5.0 was overkill for the price/performance ratio.
