Mustangs are selling just fine. One good indicator is the amount of time one sits on the lot before it sells. Both the Camaro and Mustang are moving off the lots pretty quickly.

Wink

Since we have 3 Camaros & 2 Firebirds, anyone can tell what my answer is...
Honestly I think they ruined the look of the new Mustang
by changing the rear tail lights & the Front end....
As for Performance goes...
Camaro beats the Mustang sittin' still......

I owned a 2SS manual trans car for a year and then traded it in on an Auto equipped 5.0, my honest opinion is that the Camaro has a better selection of options and a fresher look. the mustang retains the classic styling and in my experience has a hands down performance advantage. I prefer the solid rear axle of the mustyang but others prefer the independant suspension of the Camaro. the Camaro paint was one of my biggest concerns and so far it seems the mustang paint is doing better.

Drive them both and see what speaks to you. Both cars are great, but one will let you know that it is the ONE.

So my problem is a Camaro SS or a Mustang GT? Honest opinions please!

NOT trying to start WWIII. Just if given a choice would you purchase a Camaro agian?
Are you seriously asking this question on a Camaro forum? Ask it on a Mustang forum and see what happens. That said, if you want power and speed (stock) the 5.0 hands down. The Camaro also has significant visibility issues. Both have about the same interior room, neither has a backseat to write home about. Camaro's top end stereo is better than the Mustang's (sound) but the Mustang's display (and navigation) is superior.

Regardless, both are great cars. You really need to go drive them and make your decision based upon which feels the best. Asking this question on Mustang or Camaro forums isn't going to result in what you are seeking but you might try digging around (quietly) and see what issues people are having with each. Seriously, you need to go drive them both, open the hood and trunk, play with the radio and look at other features.

Personally, I would go with the fully loaded 5.0, or if it's in your price range, the Boss (it is a real monster).

I heard from my friend that the Mustang in 2014 will be IRS as standard.

While the Mustang GT has the 5.0L Coyote going for it, the Camaro SS has a rigid more well built chassis going for it, I once saw a video where a 2006 GT with roll cage crashed and landed on it's roof and the roof caved in similar to having no roll cage, that scared the crap out of me, The 2005 to 2009, and 2010 to current Mustang chassis are still S197s.

My opinion is by far get the SS Camaro. I love mine more as time passes. I will admit that the HP is not mind boggling, but its not bad either and with some cash and time these cars have plenty of potential. I have owned a 67 RS/SS Camaro, 68 Z 28 Camaro, 2001 SS Camaro, 2010 RS/SS Camaro..1997 Mustang GT drop top, 2004 Mach1 Mustang and a 2006 Mustang GT. So im not biased cuz I have owned them both. The BOWTIE RULES

Only the 5.0 LOOKS pretty much just like the 2005 thru 2010 Mustang. 7 years of sales vs 2 is a huge difference. I am seeing more and more Camaros on the road but I still see 10x as many of the Mustangs. Like the Corvette the Mustang is in desperate need of an updated body style.

That may be so, but the Mustang has a 5 star crash rating in frontal and side impact tests, and the Camaro has a 4 star rating in frontal impacts.

Now that's not saying the Camaro chassis is inferior, but adding another data point to keep things in perspective.

Like many have stated, i too am a g.m. guy. I say you keep a open mind and test drive both and buy the one you like the most. Getting opinions on mustang/camaro web sites will be one sided. The only thing i hate about the mustang is the solid rear axle. It's time ford get up with the times on independent rear suspension. That being said if i had the money i would love to have a gt500.

I ordered a 2012 5.0 this weekend. It was a no brainer to me. Better performance foress.money plus cheaper to insure

Have you even looked at the current Mustang?! I understand being a Camaro fan...but to say the 2005 and the 2012 looks in any way similar is pretty ...the lines are completely different

2005

2012

And please don't say u think the C5 and C6 are similar in looks too...

They may have changed a few styling features but it is still pretty much the same body design in general.
