i thought the plate holder screwed into the lower 'grill' and the upper part of it rested against the fascisa like on the pontiac solstice roadster/coupe?

There will be aftermarket plate holders that won't require you to drill holes in the bumper. It will most likely mount behind the bumper and wrap through the lower grill.

Here in TX, temporary dealer plates are only in the back anyway so there is no reason for them to mount the front bracket unless you ask them to. I have asked my salesman about 10 times already not to drill on my car.

I live on LI and I haven't had a front plate on any of my "performance" cars since 1999. I refuse to drive with it. The only time I've been ticketed was a couple times when I was speeding, and once when I was at court doing jury duty and the meter maids drove around the lot and nailed everyone. NEVER have I been pulled over for that reason.

We need 'em in CA too, but I'm going to request leaving it off and signing the waiver. I think SLP used to make a relocation bracket for 4th Gens back in the day so I'm hoping they can come up with something for the 5th Gen.

He asked where the front plate was and I told him the truth; hanging above the bar at the Buffalo Hooters. Have a nice night...

Edit-> HOWEVER, if you're looking for a ticket and are a NY resident, black out your windows and drive around anywhere in the State for a couple hours.
True but in the GTO you can flip the factory bracket upside down and hang it from the lower grill!

Most cops have more important things to worry about.
My C6 Vette has never had a front plate in VA and I have never been pulled.

Close ups. Nice flat area for a hidden plate mount.

We have a 2007 Impala, which we bought recently. I was minus the front License plate holder. The dealer from whom we bought the car, ordered one from GM and the holder itself is mounted to the front bumber cover with the drilling of two holes and two large pop rivets.

Not sure whether or not this helps, but, I would suspect this may be the same mounting configuration on the new Camaro.

I have a 1998 SS and still don't have a plate on the front. Haven't been pulled over yet in over 5 years of ownership.

I don't like the way the Camaro looks with the license plate bracket at all either
