Any young guys/gals out there get an SS?

I'm 18 and in college, I work part-time and I'm considering getting a 2nd job. I gave my dealer a deposit for a 2LT, but I'm thinking of maybe just going ahead and getting the SS. I don't know if I should do it though (I probably shouldn't), but I guess I was just wondering if there are any other college-age kids out there who are getting a 1SS or 2SS and how you're going to pay for it.

I'm 19 and ordered an ss back in October. I have been working for a while, and have sold my previous car. I will be putting quiet a bit down on the car, as far as insurance goes, I am on my dad's insurance. Since we have been with farmers for so long, we have a few discounts in place. My dad will be rated on the ss, if cheaper, and I will remain rated on his pickup. No worries here. Been waiting for this day for awhile.

I'm buying a 2SS for my son and he turns 5 next month, does that count?

I think this will be a cool first car for him.

He's all into the Transformers thing just like me when I was a child, so we're getting "Bumblebee". Custom stripes and all...

i'm tired of having to really rev up these cars to get a kick cause my prelude feels like my moms camry below 4,500 rpm.

still a great car. i have been through civics, preludes and 240sx's, but i hate being harassed by cops.

i think cops will finally leave me alone in a muscle car.

Lol think again. Just curious, how much are you all going to put down on your SS's?

Never invest in a vehicle you can't afford. By you guys starting off so young you could really do some damage later on in life. Only get what you can afford. The Lt, 1LT and 2LT are just fine. More power for young people means more careless driving (IMO). Unless your taking it to the tracks there is no need for it. The insurance will probably cost as much as the vehicle. By The SS costing more than $30,000k, more than likely you will be paying well over $1,000 for the car+insurance a month. If you can buy it upfront.....Good for you. Insurance will still be a pain in the ass.

Bottom line is if you can't afford the SS, don't get it. Its not worth it. By you guys being so young there will be plenty of times to buy powerful cars in the future. Just having a Camaro is good enough. BE SMART!!!!! You Guys!!!!!!

ME

I'm 19

Ordered 2SS/RS with Short Throw and CGM Hockey and Hood with Hockey Delete.

I have a decent job and will be able to put down 75% and maybe order the GFX for the car when it arrives. Just have a problem payin 2400 for a body kit...Leaning towards the dual exhaust from GMPP

Oh and it'll be black. Have a plan to wrap the dash with Black Leather and put Camaro in white...similair to the leather dash option in the vette.

Also...i have a 77 Trans Am with 45k original miles on it...you guys think i should trade it in?...I've put alot of love, money and sweat into the bird, but the trade in value, if its right, will make it hard for me not to do it.

And btw,

The main reasons i'm ordering the car is this,

1. In need a car with a warranty, gettin tired of the oem price
2. Camaro is sweet and will beat all these airplane ricers, except this guy's GT-R...damn bastid...he's a douche as well
3. Will be able to beat my father's XKR at less than half the cost, and he knows it and so he ordered a RJT 2SS with exhaust and short throw
4. Will also own another GM

You guys remember that poster that says each time you buy an american car...you pay for a factory worker's family for 3 months...i think that GM should do that ad again.

I'm 23 but I'm done with college and have a solid job.

One of best pieces of advice my dad has given me... "don't work for your possessions." I would not get a 2nd job just to afford the SS. You won't have any time to enjoy it.

That's true. I'll probably just stick with the 2LT.
