None of your springs were broken. So the valves never dropped. So then what could have caused that lifter to jam? Lack of oil?

Timing chain looks ok. Damn. Scary stuff.

It looks like cam walk to me, look at the cam placement, that lifter does not look like it's on a cam lobe.

Looks like it was on the lobe but got pushed to the side once the walls broke.

BUT, it will be intersting to see if the bolt in front did in fact come out a bit. But, it should be more than one bolt if it's aftermarket.

Lifter is cocked to the side from blowing out the block I'm guessing. Won't know for sure till I get it torn down further.

It's a single bolt camshaft...here's another interesting nugget of info that may or may not have any impact on this. On the way up to Canada I hit a giant chunk of concrete in Michigan. Perhaps it caused a small oil leak that lead to this?

I shifted @ redline....what you heard was all the racket post shift. I was getting on it....are you telling me GM built this car to be driven like a Cruze?
Of course not, did you read what I said?

If it was you, granted it shouldn't have happened and we all know it could happen to any of us when we get the frequent urge to feel the power
The only thing I was thinking, was one of the guys I was talking to at the show told me when you get a tune it turns off traction control, top end limiter, and over rev limiter. I don't have a tune on my SS so I have no idea if this is true or not, however, if it wasn't for the rev limiter on my car I would have red lined it big time, one time. I was turning and I floored it and the tires just started spinning until I hit the red line and it was like someone shut the engine off for like 1/2 second. I no longer turn off my traction control so I'm sure not to pull that stupid mistake again.

Everyone felt awful for you in Oshawa, including myself. :( I just wanted to know if the engine blew under normal driving circumstances or if you were getting on the gas pedal when it happened.

Any valves broke? Bent? Contact the piston? Looks like cheesy stock litters by the looks of that wire retainer. What pushrods? Springs are double? Single? Beehive? There's a reason behind this failure and I'm anxious to know. What was the rev limit set at? Unfortunately there's alot more to putting a cam in than just sliding it in and putting the recommended springs in. Geometry of the rocker arm must be correct. Installed height must be correct. Piston to valve clearance must be checked. Retainer to guide clearance checked. Coil bind. I hope your shop did all the correct installation precautions.

Do you see any pits on the piston top? They might be really really small.

No worries...sometimes it's easy to misread what you're trying to say via a message on a forum.

The tune doesn't turn off traction control or stabiltrack...those can only be turned off via the button inside the car. The top end limiter was moved up, and the rev limiter was bumped up a couple of hundred RPMs which is pretty standard with cam swaps due to better springs being used.

I would consider how it blew normal for a Camaro....I rolled out from the light in first gear and hammered it....shifted @ 6200 like I have done thousands of times before.

I'll get to the bottom of it....and no hard feelings...I get what you were asking now.

Imo once you make the decision to mod your engine you lose any warranty coverage on the engine if not any attendant drivetrain components as well.
It's called accepting responsibility for your actions. I have a s/c on both my 2SS and my SRT8 knowing full well that if anything were to go wrong it would be my baby.
While it sucks that you had an engine let go, you are the one that chose to modify the engine and void your warranty, it's unreasonable to expect GM to accept any responsibility when YOUR ACTIONS voided the terms of the warranty contract.
Deal with it.

I hate this shit. I've posted just now like 5 times. It keeps locking up.

I'm assuming that was oil on the ground? Did you ever get a chance to check the level?
