I guess someone has been walking around the pits with all of these pictures talking about us doing illegal stuff, so I decided to take them down.

And if your not illegal what do you have to stress on. I like it, it gives me some what of a guide to go by if I want to build a car that will keep up.

Im not worried about it, didnt say it was you, I know its all legal. They may need to restructure the rules to be more specific, but theres no rules we flat broke, and were doing a lot less than the other cars that are out there now. The 50 car has done a lot though. Most people dont understand that he has a chevelle frame under a metric body, but metric cars get a weight break. also, chevelles are stock 110 wheelbase cars, so how is he running 108?? The tech guys dont know what theyre looking at, haha. But Im not too worried about what people are saying about it, weve built other cars the same way and have never had any problems. the only questionable part cutting the spring cups, but when we built Mickeys car almost 10 years ago, we had poppert come over and tell us where we could cut, and thats how weve been doing them since.

If I was doing illegal stuff I definately would not be posting pictures of it on the internet, its just annoying that people want to pop off about stuff they have no idea what theyre talking about. The stuff we are doing is very basic, if we wanted to get crazy we would have built a late model

Ya I understand it sucks that people have to be that way. I pit next to the 50 and they are a bit short on wheel base and there was a big stink about at the last race. He does not get the weight break the only one that should would be the 98 it is a real metric car. The rules are hard to read to me. If your not 110 +/- 1/2'' you should not race till its fixed. Some of the bodies are getting a bit out of the rules also and tell me that arrow is not important at 80mph.
We are getting a good cam on Monday from a front runner out there ![]() |

Yea thats how I look at it too, but most of the time the officials dont have a clue what theyre looking at. The bodies are getting out of hand too. They are making them super wide and definately not ABC approved as the rules state. Ours has stock camaro dimensions from the doors back, as the rules state, and have stock width front fenders, not these 4-5 inch wider setups. And our nose is ABC approved, not a downforce or other nose. Plus most of these guys are replacing the rear quarter panels like a late model. Aero is definately important, if you stick your hand out the window on the freeway you can tell that. You will like the cam if its what I think it is, I know we liked ours.

I agree the rules do need some work and most important need to enforced a lot better. If they made every one play by the same set it would be nice too. The way I read it is Stock appearing body panels and after market nose. rule 1.1 also says "Body and interior structural panels shall remain stock and intact" So how do you put any other body and nose on a camaro or a metric body on a chevelle.

Thats how I read it too, aftermarket nose and fabricated fenders out of aluminum or steel, but these guys are also fabricating the hoods too. We got our hood at the junk yard, and stock appearing doors. Ive never seen a stock camaro with the doors that start at the front pillar and angle up to a tiny opening in the rear. Also, the coil cars are allowed to move all of their rear mounting points, so they can put their trailing arms and shock mounts wherever they feel, which is definately an advantage. They have yet to catch the guys that are getting rebuildable shocks built and epoxying caps on the top of them to look stock, the officials can catch these guys by looking at the body size of the shock. The rebuildable ones are much bigger than the afcos or other non-rebuildable shock. But like I said, they have no idea what they are looking at.....

where is the brake down? Is it the officials have no idea what to look for or is it they just don't care as long as no one complains? Then there could be the I will look the other way stuff for some guys but. I would like to try these leaf spring sliders that replace the rear spring mount with a bearing set up but I know if I dare show up with em on and get noticed I will get sent home right away.
So how hard would it be for a tech to pick a car or two a week and look them over and to let the drivers know where they have taken it to far. You guys built a great car and some one's gotta be a hatter I guess. |

Yea those sliders are definately a no go, haha, or we would have used them on ours, already asked. I honestly dont think they know what to look for, or what people are trying to accomplish when they do stuff. If you have a tech guy thats never driven or been around a car, how can he know what your trying to do by doing something different? But I def think there is a dont ask, dont tell philosophy thing going too. The 50 car deal is grandfathered in. He has been doing it for years but now they are bitching about it, so its raising a stink. It doesnt take much to look at each car and know when someone is doing something wrong, but maybe thats becuase I been around racing my whole life and know when somethings not right.

Sounds like we need to make you our new tech guy. So if a guy lets say has a cheater motor super light weight stuff and does not get caught for a few years is that grandfathered in also. I know I sound like an ass but it's getting a bit out of hand if you ask me.
There is a race at Shasta in September a lot of guys are going you guys should take your car and join us. |

What do you mean super lightweight? They have a crank weight rule, and I know they have checked some guys a few times. Other than that they dont have any other engine weight rules. The engine rules have a lot of room for fudging. They make a cam rule that has .500 lift, but no vacuum rule, so guys run with tons of duration, and they have a manifold rule to keep from running better heads (less air, less power). And other than that, its whatever you want, Not a whole lot else to do. No one should be grandfathered in, but it seems like there are people that are favored more than others. We need to shake the car down some more, but I think the next time out we will be pretty close, so were just waiting on a few parts. I think we will be doing all of the open shows once the seasons over, since we have a cheater car, thats all we can run hahaha
