I thought it was announced a while back that the SS was to get a bump in power. I have to agree with the OP on this, the other guys aren't standing by. Dodge made a big bump in the 392, and I'm sure they will come back with another for the ZL1 and GT500 ... IMO

Sure, let's ignore the new LFX V6, interior upgrade, new SS suspension...

I dont know...why would one need more than 426 hp unless they are constantly at the track? I think 426 is more than enough on the SS..people get so heated over simple little things..most of you guys dont even go to the track to race it and just use it as a DD.Just relax and enjoy

Ummm I'm at the lower management level. What are you saying exactly

And the OP is clearly wanting more HP and the onslaught of improvements would be invisible if that is all that matters to that customer. But I think it's quite clear as everyone has pointed out the CAmaro is clearly getting major upgrades in 2011 and 2012.

The same people doing the same things gets you the same results. Regardless of which industry someone works in, innovation (whether that be technology, management or design) comes from putting people into new environments and/or challenges. In the end, both the business and the resource benefits.

+1 Sad but true.

Just finished an interesting editorial coming from the USA today site on this subject:

For 2010 Ford made the better cold air intake from the 2009 Bullit standard on all Mustang GTs, and gained 15 hp. If Ford could do that so can GM - it'd take a bite out of the easy-mods aftermarket, but it's a legitimate (and cheap) increase in power, and a good PR move in terms of spec sheet bragging rights. Saying the 2012 or 2013 Camaro SS can deliver say 440hp straight from the factory is pretty darned good in anyone's book.

I would of hoped for 2012 they would of gave you an option for ordering different rear end gearing.

Also, the corvette is rated with 16/26 MPG whereas the camaro is rated at 16/24. Clearly there is some room for power and efficiency improvement. Making these slight changes in power and efficiency along with a body styling change and/or weight improvement would have been a nice small update from the original model released in 2010.

However, you can't get everything you want so I guess some new graphics for the 45th anniversary edition and interior updates are what we are stuck with lol.

The reason the Vette is faster and gets better mileage is because of weight. 600 pounds makes a big difference. 4hp does not. I wouldn't expect any significant power upgrades for the SS until an all new engine debuts in the C7 Corvette.

Like most people I feel 426hp is PLENTY. If you want a super drag car, Im sure there are cheaper, easier and better cars to mod and race. The camaro is a tank of a beast.

See, thats old GM thinking coming thru #3...
They corrected the interior, like it should have came from day one. changes to suspension which was needed. Sure lets rest on the 426hp because its good enough, thats just it. It's good enough!! We have to be BETTER!!
Don't wait to improve the 426 because we are neck and neck with the 5.0, advance it, let them answer to us!!

...They did. The exterior refresh and powertrain enhancements to the Mustang were clear (and so far, futile) responses to the Camaro.

And y'all do realize that the 5th gen probably doesn't have that many model years left in it...?

Do people realize that the Camaro has only been out for two model years? Give it time. The changes will come.

I could care less about a HP bump 'cause I already have my Camaro

Besides, anything less than 50hp increase won't be worth me trading in my car...

The '11 Mustang was over 100hp increase over my '05, nice improvements in the interior and hips... the big hp increase made me get pass the fugly candy cane tail lights

Now if Chevy bumped the HP to the 480+ range in a SS, I might overlook the generic wheel they're puttin' in the 2012s
