I'm running thru this fuse pull and see what happens.
Thats decent milage for intown all around driving. I only get 16 doing both.

that's all I'm getting with my 2LT. I'm pissed that you guys are getting that much. sounds like you're doing OK.
I would have the V-8 but just couldn't afford it.

Wow. I'm rarely driving more than 15 minutes at highway speed. I feel a bit better about my stop and go (and I mean GO!) mileage. Thanks for the replies!

So I just stumbled upon this topic. I picked up my car last year with 12 km on the odometer. The salesman and I went to the gas station and he put in premium fuel to fill the tank. Does anyone know what GM would have put in the tank for the initial 1/4 tank that was there? Would it be worth doing a fuse pull for the slight possibility of a bad reading right off the bat? I'm up to 13,300 km now.

Guys,
It is always worth trying this. You are not hurting the car at all by doing it, so give it a shot and see what happens. It takes about 45 seconds to pull the fuses the first time, as you have to find them. After that, it takes about 20 seconds. Leave them out for at least a few hours, and then put them back in. They are the same size, so you don't have to worry which one of the two slots each came from.

I did a little research and our cars have a "adaptive learning" function. My understanding from reading this, is that the car learns how you drive and alters performance based on how you drive. Pulling the fuse does probably reset something, but I would imagine if everyone drives mildly during the week, and then like a scalded ass ape on the weekends, it would need to be reset every weekend.

Not sure how much I buy into on this, just doesn't make sense that GM would put such a retarded(literally) software function on the car...my only thought is its completely surrounded around MPG.

pulled mine last night and put them back this morning. Didn't notice a difference. But then again, I'm driving on an extra 38 hp from last week anyways with my headers and exhaust.

I am a little skeptical that there is anything in our software that causes the car to perform differently today based on how I drove it yesterday, but am really interested in learning more about this so I understand it. Do you have any sources you can share? Thanks!

I have a 2011 Camaro 2SS automatic and figured I had nothing to lose if I performed the fuse pull. I have about 2100 miles on my car now and I have no clue how it should perform. I havent video taped it or tried to dyno it, etc. What I do know is that the car seemed very wierd in terms of shifting and it definately wasnt getting the gas mileage it should have been getting. I was getting 14.2 to 16 at best while taking it easy on the gas. When I would get on it I wasnt wowed by any means at the performance. Last night I pulled fuses 5 & 20 and let it sit over night. I put both fuses back in this morning around 7am and just driving down my street on the way to work I noticed an immediate difference. When I say immediate it was in the shifting. The car no longer had that wierd feel when the car was trying to shift. The shifts were firm and more accurate. The idle was definately a lot smoother. When I finally got out onto the open road and pushed the peddle to the metal it was like someone swapped my car out over night! Total different car. I was now amazed at the performance of the car. I have always put 93 Octane in it myself. Now as for the car when it was new at the dealer I have no idea. GM definately needs to make this right and find a true fix for anyone who ownes an SS Camaro. It would set many minds at ease knowing it has been resolved.

It works for SS Automatics. Anyone with a Camaro should do this.

My wife and I just got back from the grocery store. I drove it fairly hard up to about 60mph. I just did the fuse pull. I will let you guys know what I come up with. By the way, LS3 6spd.

fuse pull vs weak MAF sensor for Vararam?

I was reading about installing the Vararam intake and they require that we first check which version of he MAF sensor is in the car-apparently there is a randomly 'weak' one and a 'good' one in different camaros.

Does this have anything to do with the fuse pull seeming to work for some people and not others?

Oh and yeah, my MAF sensor is the weak one with a single letter code, and the fuse pull did make a difference on my car.

Any help from experts is needed
Thanks:c ool:

I'm working on baselining my newest toy, so I made a couple of dyno runs in the shop using the 87 octane that the vehicle came with from the dealer, and a subsequent tank of 93 octane. Fuses were pulled for 2 hours -- more than enough time to reset the parameters governing KR. Gains are about 20HP at peak, which is what would be expected when running 93 vs. 87. I did have to laugh at the spark tables GM came up with -- I think they handed this job off to a college intern. No evidence of smoothing, large holes in the map, etc. Explains a lot about the ugliness of the stock curves!

fuse pull to relearn bolt ons???

This may be a dumb question (as is almost garunteed following that opening disclaimer) but regardless....

I have an LS3 and already did the fuse pull upon receipt if the vehicle. I've since added a CAI and tomorrow will be the Comp cat-back exhaust. A tune is in my future probably in the fall along with headers and possibly new plugs. However, in order to get the most out of my bolt-ons tomorrow, will a fuse pull help the computer to "re-learn" the increased airflow in and out of the car? Or is that something ONLY a tune can do?

Thanks!
