I wish I had the $$$$$ on hand to make this thing bigger and badder than it was before. The reality of the situation is I don't....so the next course of action is getting it back to being a fun, usable car again.
So what I'm left to decide on now is replacing the LS3 with a GM crate LS3 ( 430 hp 424 tq ), or stepping it up a notch to the " hot cam " LS3 crate engine ( 480 hp 475 tq ). Both come with a 2 year GM warranty....once that warranty expires, I might have some cash on hand to "upgrade" if ya know what I mean. My CAI, Longtubes, underdrive pulley and axle back will all be going back on the car....so at least it'll have a little something extra. |

Now there is a TSB on the part from Chevrolet...so you might want to politely tell that shop that while they haven't seen a failure themselves, it's cheap insurance for their customers. If you're swapping the cam out already... the oil pump is about a $150 part and not even and hours labor....CHEAP insurance.

I am glad to know about it now though because I was planning to forge the motor anyway. I need to get a complete list of exactly what I need to have them replace. They did a lot of parts when they did the cam, but I don't want to miss anything when they forge the engine. That will happen next winter. |
