Its a far better car than the Aveo, thats for sure. Granted, besting the Aveo isn't the greatest challenge in the automotive world, but still ...
I think it should fare well against the Fiesta & Fit.

This is a larger car also. Nearly the size of last years Cobalt. Now the Sebring to the 200? That was front and rear fascias and a new interior. Sonic? 100% all new. By the way, rear seat head room is outstanding in the Sonic. Just saying.

I like the hatch. The sedan looks off balance though imo. I see the hatch being quite successful.

Yeah, 3 box designs don't work very well when you've only got space for 2 boxes

17K for a 1.4 Turbo 6spd?
Does the LT have to have heated seats/mirrors standard? |

2 box design = engine bay + cabin (hatches, wagons, vans, SUV's, etc) A small car simply isn't big enough to allow for a trunk area without it looking wierd.

Yes but these aren't small cars like they used to be. My car is 173.6 inches long in sedan form (160.1 for the hatch) which, is huge compared to cars of this class in the old days. The Geo Metro from 90 to 94 was only 147.4 for the hatch and 151.4 for the sedan. That 173.6 inches is much closer to the 180.7 my 92 Sunbird was at rather than that Metro and IMO doesn't look freakish as a sedan. Not sure what the length specs are on the Sonic but it looks much better as a sedan than a hatch, at least for me.
