For an unrelated project some friends and I used hollow acrylic tubes with a special film inside that diffuses the light. It gives it an almost frosted light look but the light is smooth all the way instead of somewhat uneven.

Some thing cam up,( i have a Home closing, and 5 days before closing i got a pick up list) so that has to come first but it will get done late this week.
