One cannot do Cadillac Interiors at a Camaro price! Cannot be done.
You mean you haven't slept with Christie Brinkley?????

Tidbit --

The Camaro WAS supposed to get lighted vanity mirrors -- but when you get into the car - pull them down -- notice where they come to in terms of line-sight......

Next look at how they 'indent' into the headliner --

That had to happen in order to pass head-impact standards... (the very standard that put the last nail in the coffin of the 4th gen...)

The question was:

"do we keep the look of the concept - or do we raise the roof for things like vanity mirrors and such -- and ruin the look of the car?"

How low can it go when it gets to people fussing about lighted vanity mirrors... Dang it, why don't they just buy a dang minivan... and quit

Sorry, I'm not trying to derail the thread here but I'm watching Scott get upset because people don't like some aspects of his child. That's how you have to look at it- like you're picking on his kid. That's how important this is to him. People do the best they can to raise their children; Scott has done the best he can to raise the Camaro from the ashes. Is everyone happy with EVERY aspect of the car? Of course not. But to say you should have put a Cadillac interior in the Camaro? Come on- be real.

How about applauding him for all he's done RIGHT instead of picking on him for all the LITTLE things you don't think were done right?

Honestly, Scott, in a way I feel bad for you, and all of the engineers and decision-makers behind the new Camaro. You've got some very rabid and tough-to-please fans, and that's not always a bad thing. But it is when they expect perfection at a fraction of the price. I think some might tend to think of certain people behind the Camaro (particularly the "bean-counters") as these inhuman characters who couldn't care less about the car itself, and only about what it costs and what kind of profit it can generate. I could be wrong, but tend to doubt that as being true. I think even those who have to make the tough decisions about making the interior plastic instead of full leather, excluding in-dash navigation, making the vehicle somewhat heavy for safety standards, or making visor mirrors without vanity lights, would prefer not to do these things if possible, but again, these are decisions that have to be made for cost/safety/profitability reasons. I'm sure you'd like the Camaro to be a Ferrari-fighter with a likewise interior for less than a Corvette, but of course, it can not and will not ever be done.

So, I'd just like to say to you and to all those behind this car, I don't care if the interior is less-than-Lamborghini. I'll be as a kid in Toysrus when I first turn that key, slip that sweet Hurst shifter into gear, rev that incredible LS3, and introduce my new Camaro to the road for the first time. Thank you.

IMO the Camaro team made a great choice with the mirrors, along with nearly every aspect of the interior. The back seat entry/exit is fine, some of you are going to be shocked with how easy it is to move the seat back, even if it is a two step process. Hey blinking your eye is two step too, does that make it hard? Don't knock it till you try it. With regards to the fuel cap placement, I love that it is on the passenger side since majority of cars have it on the drivers side and so there should be more open spots at the gas station for you. If you are worried about hitting the pump or something, go buy a cone and practice getting to know where you car is, it is imperative to have a good sense of your car's size. Sorry that some of you don't like the interior, but the majority either like it or don't care so of course GM will keep it like it is. Personally I love it - simple, practical, and modern. Now on to my only minor complaint. I understand the reasons for a hard plastic IP, but I think on 2LT and 2SS trims it should be soft. Just my $.02.

I am 48 years old and have never used a vanity mirror let alone a vanity light. I have however used over 400 HP and am buying a Camaro so I can do it again. Not taking sides on this thing but Scott has the inside skinny on balancing the look of the concept for the sake of fluff. Here here Chevy! You made the right choice on this one in my book. As far as instrument panel goes there will be plenty of aftermarket mods to customize the cluster to meet anyones desire. I just want a 180MPH speedo and a Tach. Are we all so bored waiting for our cars that we have to nitpick this stuff to death. Lets talk about the positives not the negatives for a while. How about the pedals. Are they great or what? What about the PDIM and how that will make our rally trips even more fun. Turn by Turn directions with the change to a female voice when you screw up.....classic humor there! And best of all the ls3. This is truely a engineering marvel. You cant please everyone but you sure have pleased me.

Ya know I just thought of how funny it really is with people comparing Honda Accords adn Nissan Altimas/Maximas and for God sakes Civics to the CAMARO. What is there to compare for one. Oh the interior is better on the Accord, Oh Snap! I better get an Accord then. Oh wait I forgot for just a second that the Camaro has a 300+ hp V6 or a 425+hp V8, handles and drives awesome and doesn't look like a long turd on wheels. C'mon people.

Honestly these issue's are nothing compared to the mustang guys have to gripe at. Look at the horsepower rating on there spanking new 2010 mustang gt as well as that god awful tail light change they made. Now they have real issue's to complain about. Sorry dude your forgetting this a a muscle car not a 4 door sedan like a malibu. Go back to the car and soak it all in. They got an amazing looking car with a strong motor to work with. Everything else is just gravy as far as im concerned. Its like trying to find whats wrong with a stunning women your with. Everything has its faults nothing is perfect

Just to report, I drove home in Number 3 today. I was smiling and happy. Friday, driving a 2010 Camaro........

Let me assure what I noticed was a well executed, well layed out comfortabale interior. What I noticed was a 3.6 L SIDI 304 HP V6 with a 6 speed manual trans. What I noticed was how wonderful the NVH was. What I noticed was how well the car rode and handled due the wonderful suspension. I did use the express up windows, the power recliner and the PDIM for my iphone........all on a car that stickers for about $26,000.

What I didn't notice was no light on the vanity mirror (I honestly had to double check that it has mattered so little), I did open the trunk and never gave the wiring harness a second thought. I did show a guy how to use the lever on the seat back to get into the back seat and he didn't say anything about how hard that would be. And you know what else I didn't do? Tap on the top of the IP with my finger nail to tell if it was skin over foam or hard plastic. Looking at it you can't tell, and on every other car, I CAN TELL.

Just sayin'.......................it's an awesome car and it's strengths out weigh the weaknesses.

And to support Fbodfather, I DID work at a Japanes OEM and they DO worry about piece cost and investment and ease of manufacture. DO NOT fall in to the hype that non-US manufacturers are that smarter.

And Fbodfather has really, and calmly I might add, tried to add some clarity here. LISTEN TO HIM.

Interesting bit about the lighted mirrors, I'm definately glad to keep the lower roofline rather than the mirror lights. While I think there's room for further improvement and refinement for future Camaro model years I doubt there's been a car made that I couldn't say that of. Overall I prefer the 2010 Camaro's interior to the 2009 Challenger SRT8 that I prefer over the 2009 Mustang GT Premium. (prefer it to the 370Z and Genesis interiors as well, they feel a bit cramped at 6'2") I haven't sat in a 2010 Mustang yet but really I don't care what they did to it unless the improved interior includes new seats, the current ones seem remarkably mediocre compared to the competition IMO. You can't make a car that's perfect for everyone though, especially when cost matters.
